If you hate Playboy Magazine you can blame it on your government....and if you love Playboy Magazine well you can blame it on your government also....The Magazine that the government hated came about because of thier actions......You think I'm kidding?
1st January, 1942 The U.S. government no longer allowed the sale of civilian vehicles (i.e. cars and trucks).1942 U.S.A. Car Production Stops It was after this date that automobile manufacturers were required to make only vehicles which were to be used for war purposes.
Automobile plants during this time were dedicated to the sale of bombers, jeeps, military trucks, and other gear. The government offered automakers guaranteed profits regardless of production costs throughout the war years. Furthermore, the government allocated $11 billion to the construction of war manufacturing plants that would be sold to the automobile manufacturers at discounts after the war.
When the war ended in 1945, there was quite a demand for new automobiles and auto manufacturers had stopped manufacturing vehicles and equipment for the war effort. And one new company that started up after the war was the Playboy Motor Car Corporation of Buffalo, New York.
The Playboy car was a little automobile that was built by the Playboy Motor Car Corporation. The company only made a reported 97 prototype cars prior to closing up shop. None were ever originally offered for sale to the public. There are currently only about 40 Playboy cars known to still exist in the world. Of those, only about 15 are known to be in roadworthy condition.
So you ask what does this have to do with Playboy Magazine?
INTERESTING TRIVIA ABOUT THE PLAYBOY CAR
According to an episode of the "Biography" TV series and of "The E! True Hollywood Story," a woman who worked for Playboy Motor Cars at the time they shut down suggested to her son's friend that he use the Playboy name for his new magazine. That friend's name was Hugh Hefner.
"The Playboy name was suggested by a friend whose mother had worked at the then defunct Playboy Motor Car Company..." - Signed Hugh M. Hefner
So you see it is the governments fault we have Playboy Magazine #1 reason they went to war and stop production of the automobile #2 reason they didn't bail out the little guy after the war(sound familiar).....
So if you love or hate the magazine just remember it is your governments fault we have it.......or at least their fault it is called Playboy.......
Have a great new year everybody and as always peace zane

In Ashtabula County Ohio in the past 2-3 weeks we have lost 6 people to traffic accidents 5 of the 6 were drug and alcohol related. New Years Eve is in the top 3 deadliest nights for drinking and driving on U.S roads. Before you go out tonight find a Designated Driver or better yet just stay home if your going to drink. Please think before you drink....
Although the numbers have fallen over the years we still have to many deaths from drinking and driving 1 is 1 to many just ask someone who lost a loved one from it....I'm sure you know someone .....I know 3 more people just from the last 3 weeks that lost someone they loved from drinking and driving....
Fatal Accident Crash Pictur:es and Stories here is a link to share with your friends and family to show them that this is serious... there are no dead body's in these pics just mangled cars that people were killed in.
*According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), "A motor vehicle crash is considered to be alcohol-relatedif at least one driver or non-occupant (such as a pedestrian or pedalcyclist) involved in the crash is determined to have had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .01 gram per deciliter (g/dL) or higher. Thus, any fatality that occurs in an alcohol-related crash is considered an alcohol-related fatality. The term 'alcohol-related' does not indicate that a crash or fatality was caused by the presence of alcohol."
**A driver involved in a motor vehicle crash is considered alcohol-impairedif he or she exhibits a BAC of .08 or greater.

"For the Man Who Hated Christmas"
It's just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so.
It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas. Oh, not the true meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it, overspending, the frantic running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and the dusting powder for Grandma, the gifts given in desperation because you couldn't think of anything else.
Knowing he felt this way, I decided one year to bypass the usual shirts, sweaters, ties and so forth. I reached for something special just for Mike. The inspiration came in an unusual way. Our son, Kevin, who was 12 that year was wrestling at the junior level at the school he attended, and shortly before Christmas, there was a non-league match against a team sponsored by an inner-city church.
These youngsters, dressed in sneakers so ragged that shoestrings seemed to be the only thing holding them together, presented a sharp contrast to our boys in the spiffy blue and gold uniforms and sparkling new wrestling shoes. As the match began I was alarmed to see that the other team was wrestling without headgear, a kind of light helmet designed to protect a wrestler's ears. It was a luxury the ragtag team obviously could not afford. Well, we ended up walloping them. We took every weight class. And as each of their boys got up from the mat, he swaggered around in his tatters with false bravado, a kind of street pride that couldn't acknowledge defeat. Mike, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, "I wish one of them could have won," he said. "They have a lot of potential, but losing like this could take the heart right out of them." Mike loved kids, all kids, and he knew them, having coached little league football, baseball and lacrosse.
That's when the idea of his present came. That afternoon, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought an assortment of wrestling headgear and shoes and sent them anonymously to the inner-city church. On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelope on the tree, the note inside telling Mike what I had done and that this was his gift from me. His smile was the brightest thing about Christmas that year and in succeeding years. For each Christmas, I followed the tradition, one year sending a group of mentally handicapped youngsters to a hockey game, another year a check to a pair of elderly brothers whose home had burned to the ground the week before Christmas, and on and on. The envelope became the highlight of our Christmas. It was always the last thing opened on Christmas morning and our children, ignoring their new toys, would stand with wide-eyed anticipation as their dad lifted the envelope from the tree to reveal its contents. As the children grew, the toys gave way to more practical presents, but the envelope never lost its allure. The story doesn't end there.
You see we lost Mike last year due to dreaded cancer. When Christmas rolled around, I was still so wrapped in grief that I barely got the tree up. But Christmas Eve found me placing an envelope on the tree, and in the morning, it was joined by three more.
Each of our children, unbeknownst to the others, had placed an envelope on the tree for their dad. The tradition has grown and someday will expand even further with our grandchildren standing around the tree with wide-eyed anticipation watching as their fathers take down the envelope. Mike's spirit, like the Christmas spirit, will always be with us.
Nancy W. Gavin
This story is a true story and inspired four siblings from Atlanta, GA to start The White Envelope Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting this tradition and charitable giving. The White Envelope Project founders are regularly in touch with the family in the article and are thrilled to have their support. The Gavin family and now thousands of others continue to celebrate the "white envelope" tradition each year. For more information about The White Envelope Project or to honor a loved one through a "white envelope" gift this year, please visit their website: www.WhiteEnvelopeProject.org
peace everyone and have a great day.....zane
Todays history from 39mph to the speed of sound in less then 100 years. I'm sure everyone out there has gone a little over the speed limit at least once....Am I right? Well I got that out of my system years ago I rarely go more then 10 mph over on the freeway anymore. Now I just sit back and cruise in my slow VW Bug yes under 100mph....But ever since the invention of cars people have been racing them and seeing how fast they can go......and Today in history is the first ...............
Official land speed record set December 18, 1898
Count Gaston de Chasseloup-Laubat set the world's first official land-speed record in Acheres Park near Paris: 39.245mph in his Jeantaud automobile, powered by an electric motor and alkaline batteries. The Jeantaud is widely believed to be the first automobile steered by a modern steering wheel rather than a tiller. The tiller was quickly replaced by the steering wheel in the early 1900s.
Gaston de Chasseloup-Laubat- Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Whatever the case, the Jeantaud remains and will always be the first automobile to set an official land speed record.
Unfortunately for our "Electric Count," the record would last just a few days before it would fall to a faster electric vehicle.
Other history making speeds
- 1899 Camille Jenatzy (Belgium) becomes the first person to travel faster than 62mph and the first person to travel faster than 1 mile per minute;
- 1902 William K. Vanderbilt Jr (USA) sets a record of 76.08mph, the first time the record has been held by a petrol-driven car;
- 1904 Louis Rigolly (France) becomes the first person to travel faster than 100mph at 103.55mph
- 1963 Craig Breedlove (USA) reaches 407.45mph in his jet-powered Spirit of America but the FIA does not recognize the record because there is no category for jet cars;
- 1970 Driving Blue Flame, Gary Gabelich (USA) becomes the first person to travel faster than 621 mph on land;
- 1997 Andy Green (England) sets a new record of 763.035mph , becoming the first person to travel faster than the speed of sound on land.
1964 Green Monster
Art Arfons grew up in rural Ohio, working on the family's feed mill to hone his mechanical aptitude. He and his brother drag-raced and beat legend "Big Daddy" Don Garlits in the late '50s-a sizeable accomplishment. During the next decade, Arfons switched to land speed racing and built a series of jet-powered streamliners. Most of his cars used the name "Green Monster," but this one is the most famous. It set and reset the top-speed record several times during Arfon's battles with Craig Breedlove. On Nov. 7, 1965, Arfons established the top-speed record at 576.5 mph. He beat Breedlove's five-day old record by over 20 mph. But eight days later Breedlove would make another attempt.
1979 Budweiser Rocket Car
The Budweiser rocket car is mired in controversy. Financed by movie director Hal Needham-remember Smokey and the Bandit? -built by William Fredrick and driven by ex-Air Force pilot Stan Barret, the car may or may not have broken the sound barrier in 1979. The answer depends on who you ask. On December 17, 1979, Barret rocketed this missile-shaped car, which employed a liquid hydrogen peroxide jet engine and two solid-fuel booster engines, down Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards Air Force base. Neither the FIA nor the SCTA, the two most widely recognized sanctioning bodies, were present. Allegedly, the car went 739.66 mph, which on a cold day (20 degrees F) would have beaten the sound barrier. But this was a speed briefly measured, based on data from the Air Force's radar installation and accelerometers mounted in the car, not over a timed, measured distance as is the accepted practice. For unknown reasons, another official run was not attempted. The run is generally not recognized, although even Chuck Yeager claimed that photos showed visible shock waves and that the rear wheels lifted off the ground, two signs that the car had gone supersonic. Bystanders didn't report hearing any sonic booms, however. The debate continues
2004 Buckeye Bullet
Land speed racing has always been a venue where engineers and backyard tinkerers explore fresh ideas. At Bonnevillewe've seen supercharged mini bikes and air-powered streamliners. Electric vehicles, like the Buckeye Bullet, are appearing with greater frequency. Amazingly, this car was built by a group of Ohio University students. Some 10,000 C-cell NiMH batteries-the battery pack literally weighs a ton-provide the energy, and a 400 horsepower electric motor drives a five-speed gearbox. In October 2004, the car set an electric-vehicle speed record of 314.96 mph. The record still stands.

This past weekend there was a death in one of our friends family. It was her little cousin that happens to have been a friend of my two older boys and they all went to the same school. She was a victim of a hit and run. They have the person responsible for it.....My post that for some reason never posted was a much angrier one.... Maybe that is good it got lost....so I am just posting this instead....
I have calmed down a little and decided to post something positive...below you will see a list of tips to help protect yourself. Read them, Print them, and share them with your family and friends. You never know what the day will bring so be prepared and do everything you can to protect family and friends.....peace zane
The AAA Foundation analysis showed that approximately 11 percent of all police reported crashes involve a hit and run driver, and that the problem is especially alarming for pedestrians. "About 60 percent of the people killed in hit and run crashes are pedestrians," said Peter Kissinger, President (and CEO Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. ..... From 1994 to 2003, a total of 14,914 people were killed in hit and run crashes in the United States, The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , according to the Foundation's analysis of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatality Analysis Reporting System Fatality Analysis Reporting System(FARS) was created in the United States by NHTSA (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to provide an overall measure of highway safety, to help suggest solutions, and to help provide an objective basis to evaluate the effectiveness and General Estimates System databases.
"Deadly hit and run crashes most often occur on weekends and during the evening," said Peter Kissinger. Fifty-eight percent of fatal hit and run crashes occur on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday; forty-seven percent of fatal hit and run crashes occur between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.
"The best way for pedestrians to avoid being a hit and run victim is to be an alert pedestrian," said Kissinger.
The Foundation offers the following tips to help keep pedestrians safe around traffic:
--Obey traffic signals
--Look left, then right, then left again before crossing the street even when in a crosswalk
--Watch for turning vehicles when crossing
--Remain alert and aware of cars as they approach and pass you
--Do not assume drivers see you because you see them
--When sidewalks are not present, walk as far away from the roadway as possible

Well what do all these things and people have in common? maybe a few things but one thing for sure.....
The Studebaker yep they all owned or were made by The Studebaker Manufacturing Company. The only company to successfully bridge the gap between covered wagons to automobiles (AKA horseless carriage) back in the day...Yes maybe even you have owned one some time in the past and you also can add your name to the list of people that owned a Studebaker....One of the greatest American made cars ever made.
Well today in history was a sad day on this date December 9th 1963 The last American made Studebaker was produced, and the factory in South Bend, Indiana, was closed it doors forever (they still were built in Canada until 66)
The Studebaker Brothers: Clem, Henry, J.M., Peter and Jacob.
Thomas Edison purchased the second electric car produced by Studebaker
The Amphibious Weasel used in WW2

Yep You lost a lot of business because of your big mouth and you don't even know it yet but you will....after you read this....
Why stereotype they are different but doing the same thing....car salesman and Realtors....I see post here all the time cutting down the car salesman. Really are they any different from you? Car and Home salespeople sell two of the biggest investments that people will buy in their life...If your not following me yet it is cars and homes.....
So why are you cutting them down? Is it because you bought a car and it turned out to be a piece of shit? You think you payed to much because your neighbor got the same car $1000 cheaper? Or you just don't like car salespeople because they where a goofy ass tie? well what is it? Really what is it that you don't like about car sales people? or anybody thats not in Real Estate? They all buy homes don't they ?
I was in the car business since I was 15 years old I worked in big dealerships and little 3 man dealerships and guess what.... they are the same. Sure you will get the occasional "ass jack-er" but we also have that in Real Estate... I'm sure everyone of you knows one...I do...
Just like the homes you are selling do you know every little thing that is wrong with it? or will break tomorrow? or next week? No you don't do you? and if you do and don't say something to the clients you are one of the "1% ass jack-ers".....but you already knew that didn't you?
So why cut down another profession? does it make you feel better about yourself? does it make you a big (person)? does it give you satisfaction? make you look better? what do you get out of it? really is that it?
You do know that car salespeopledo buy houses right? and they have friends and family's that buy homes right?
So next time you go to buy a car or what ever it is you are buying remember that the person helping you 99% of the time is looking out for your best interest. And cars break and if your neighbor bought the same car as you did for $1000 less maybe you need to practice your negotiating skills, yep look into the mirror before you bash someone else or another profession. you really never know who is hearing you....and it may cost you a client or 10 or 20
Yes this is kind of a rant but really someone had to say it and me being in both car sales and home sales I guess makes me see things that others don't......maybe you will look at it differently now or maybe you will just stick your head up your ass and pretend you didn't read this...It is up to you its your clients you are alienating and their family's...and their friends....
Remember before running your mouth most people will tell 1 to 3 people you did a great job....but if you did a bad job they tell everybody.....and if your cutting down another profession your doing a bad job....
anyway ladies please excuse my language............peace zane
