The day didn't start very well for Cynthia. She didn't hear the alarm going off, the kids weren't up getting ready for school, and she had thirty minutes to get them all dressed, fed, and loaded into her Explorer. Rushed is an understatement. She swore that the light was yellow when she stepped on the gas to beat the red. It felt like slow motion watching the driver's panicked face as the front of her Explorer crushed his white Cadillac Escalade like a beer can. Wow. It feels good to be back in blogging action! It's been a long and short road to my leaving the real estate industry to join State Farm. I'm opening my office in nine days, to be exact. I know, I should be thinking about Christmas gifts, mistletoe and all the other stuff that comes along with this season, but I'm just not in the mood, given the enormous responsibility that I have right now. northport: Over the river in Northport, Alabama

Therer's still a little bit of Mayberry in Northport, Alabama. Northport is a growing city located right over the bridge from Tucaloosa, Alabama. Although Northport is incorporated, many people still consider it to be a part of Tuscaloosa. The downtown area, close to the Black Warrior river, is a throwback to what an "old town" should look like. It still has a main street, even if it only consist of a few stores.
