Feng Shui in New York:  Sherie's Story

Feng Shui in Huntington New York-This is a sad story.  If you're looking for a "pick me up" you might want to move along to another post .There are also lessons here for ALL of us.

Last year Laura Cerrano and I did a Feng Shui Consultation in beautiful Huntington Long Island in New York.  I didn't write about my clients at the time, their story was personal.  I did write about the beautiful area of Huntington: Feng Shui in Huntington Long Island-- New York

Sherie had contacted me for a Feng Shui Consultation.  She was having health issues, she told me, and wanted to see if there were any blockages in her home.  I am often contacted for Feng Shui Consultations regarding health and, in almost ALL cases, you can "see" what might be blockages-what might need to be changed to open up an area and allow the energy to flow.

Sometimes we see a lack of Elements.  We believe in The Five Element theory and address that as well.  Sherie is a young mother with two beautiful pre-school children and a wonderful husband that is truly her soul mate.  I remember her saying they "finished each other's sentences."

I also remember her telling me that until a month or two prior, she was living the "perfect life."  She told us as we sat down to address her issues that she had been recently diagnosed with cancer.  Back and shoulder pain that she thought would go away eventually drove her to see her physician.

It's "Mother Stress" she was told.  She was told that again on a follow up visit-and again, when she was STILL having pain.  She wasn't sent for any tests although a five minute non invasive CT Scan would have showed her cancer.

Until she finally insisted, it seemed no one listened to her.  I've had this happen to me more often then I can say and I know what she felt like getting ‘brushed off' by the very people who should be LISTENING to you.

She was the picture of health at the time.  Laura and I are especially careful with ANYTHING in an environment that can potentially cause health issues.  In Sherie's home, we could find nothing.  Not a thing-- which is very unusual.  Her home was open, warm and inviting and there was proper placement of ALL the Elements.

We made several suggestions, did clearings inside and out and hugged her goodbye.  Driving home that day, Laura and I were both quiet.  Finally she voiced exactly what I had been thinking---Is it possible the Doctors are WRONG?  How I wish they were.

Days, weeks and finally months passed and I was so reluctant to call-I was afraid I would seem intrusive.  The energy and my thoughts of her became so intense I finally forced myself to pick up the phone.

Sherie has been through more treatments then most of us could imagine.  She has lung cancer, bone cancer and it has metastasized to her brain.  She was happy to hear from me and it broke my heart to hear this news.  Yet she stays positive, despite the pain which at times is agonizing.  She is truly a beautiful soul.

She made me aware of a group on Facebook  (which I had just joined  I Got the Surprise of my Life! -there are NO coincidencesand I wanted to share it with you for prayers for Sherie and her family while they go through this terrible time.

I believe in Energy Intensified.  And I believe in the power of prayer-no matter who or what you believe in.  Those good thoughts and blessing ALL help; I have seen miracles in the past and hope for another one.

If you'd like to join, the group on Facebook is called "Team Sherie."  You can read about her story, leave a comment or check her progress there.  I hope to go back to visit her when she is up to having a short visit;  not as a Feng Shui Consultant but as a FRIEND "Client" is only a word we start off with in SO many businesses-we end up with friends that we truly care about.

Blessings to you, Sherie and to your family as you follow your difficult journey.  We ARE with you.

Good morning Carole-I can so relate to this diagnosis as I lost a sister-in-law to this very thing in October 08 and it is such a shock and a great loss. I'm truly sorry she has to go thru this. My prayers are with her and family.

Carole, this is absolutely heart breaking. How can doctors ignore the insight provided by the patient herself??? I'm so very sorry that this happened to her- your blog about her experience may be helping someone else who instinctively knows that something's wrong, but can't find support in the medical field to keep searching. Very, very sad.

Carole, it seems I always end up in tears when reading your posts.  That's not an insult.  You tug at my heartstrings with your poignant writing.

This one is sad.  How terribly sad and at the same time, how frustrating and enraging.  Maybe if they'd paid closer attention to her complaints, Sherie's cancern would have been caught much earlier.  A lesson for us all.  I will keep Sherie in my prayers.

Carole - this is so sad to hear.  I'm sure you and Laura made such an impact on this woman's life that she would welcome a visit from you as a friend.  So often, when people are diagnosed with a debilitating disease, they feel very alone - regardless of family attention and devotion.

Thank you for sharing Sherie's story.  You can bet she will have more invisible support than she can imagine.  The internet is a powerful tool when it comes to generating positive thought and (often times) invisible support.

Thank you for being Sherie's friend.  She sounds like a beautiful person who has been dealt a miserable hand in the card game of life.

That is immensely sad. I'll visit the Facebook page too, of course - thanks for alerting us to that.

I do believe in miracles too and have seen them happen. Sometimes, though, the greatest miracle is the grace with which someone gets through suffering. That alone can transform lives.

You know, Carole, after visiting as many doctors as I have over the last couple of years, and basically being told nothing was wrong with me, I can tell you how stressful it is, when doctors don't listen to the patient. You start to wonder if you're crazy.
Then a few weeks ago a doctor told me "well, if you're going to have cancer, thyroid cancer would be the one to have" ...
I don't know what was harder ... hearing it was all in my head, or being told it may be cancer...
I still haven't wrapped my head around what it may be ...
I don't know how your friend Sherie is dealing with this, but I'm sure she needs all our support and prayers.  A miracle would be great, and it's possible ... anything is possible.
Let me know if there is anything I can do. I'm glad to help in any way I can.

Carole--Lung cancer is one of those diseases that when the symptoms really start, there it is very advanced...especially when someone has no risk factors. How very sad for Sherie and her family. Interesting that you just joined Facebook and now are finding groups that help your friend. You touch so many lives with your work.

Liz, I was heartbroken to hear about this--and sorry that I hadn't called sooner.  I worry about bothering people sometimes and they are actually happy that we're thinking of them.

Tom, Thank you for the kind thoughts.  She is a remarkable woman and I have a lot of hope that she will get through this.

Kate, Thank you for joining.  Prayers go a long way in helping and they are needed for this wonderful person.

Sharon, Thank you for your prayers...they help in ways we can't even imagine.  I'm so sorry to hear about your sister in law.

Cynthia, I appreciate your prayers and they will help--I believe they always help!

Joan, Thank you.  I, too, hope and pray they find a cure--and doctors who believe you when you know there is something wrong.

Bill, I am so sorry as well.  She was my client just wanting to make sure there was nothing in her home that would cause health issues....and there wasn't.

Gary, It's going to be VERY difficult and I thank you for your prayers.  They are needed.

Laurie, It made me angry that they ignored her for so long and that they are so ready to dismiss this with "Mommy Stress."  I do wonder if a man had gone in, would they have said it was "Daddy Stress" ?  Or would they have run a few tests?

Maggie, I'm sorry, I put at the top that it is a sad story and I am angry too.  As someone who has been dismissed by more doctors then I can count until they finally found the problem.  Mine can be controlled but if they had caught this in Sherie when she first went, she said she would have had a 90% cure rate.  Thank you for your prayers.

Carol, You always have the nicest things to say.  I believe very much in prayers and am glad to hear that people are sending them.  That is a wonderful thing about the Internet, I agree.  And lessons for all of us--when we KNOW something is wrong we have to find a way to make these doctors LISTEN to us.

Mary, Thank you so much.  She is a beautiful person and I am so glad I finally made the call.  She is dealing with this so well and is in a great deal of pain.  I am praying for her and keeping in contact.

Sylvie, I'm sorry it's happened to you as well...being blown off the way Sherie was and I have had the same issues with doctors.  Your doctor sounds as if he has lovely bedside manners as well.....please get a second opinion and please let me know if I can do anything...you know I send my prayers to you as well.

Teri, They would have been able to do something in this case...they believe she would have had a 90% cure rate if it was diagnosed when she first went.  I was surprised as well that she mentioned the group on Facebook and went to leave a message.  And I won't worry so much about bothering someone when I am thinking of them.

Hi Carole...I remember when you wrote your initial post because I have a cousin that lives in Huntington.  I've been there and that was one of the reasons I was drawn to it.

I hope you have the opportunity to visit Sherie soon.  I will join the group on Facebook.  Thanks for telling us about it.

Like everyone, I struggle with the best way to comment to such a touching and sad post.  I know that Sherie is surrounded by love both in her family and strangers like all of us who read her story.  I too will check out the Facebook site. Thanks for sharing.

Kevin & Monica, I posted this because it should never have happened...to make people more aware to go to as many doctors as they have to until someone believes you.  And for the thoughts and prayers, they all help.  Thank you for yours.

Kate, I remember you telling me you knew that beautiful area.  It certainly wasn't appropriate at the time to write about the consultation, now prayers will help though.  Thank you for yours.

Diane, I know, there's not much that can be said.  But it's a lesson for us all, I believe and more prayers for Sherie who needs them right now.  I thank you for yours.

I will absolutely send my prayers and positive thoughts Sherie's way. I am always saddened to hear about things like this happening to young, wonderful people (with young kids no less)! I know it doesn't seem very nice of me, but I don't understand why that doesn't happen to the mean people in the world.

Libby, There have been no updates to the site.  I'm trying not to take that as a bad sign....What happened to her shouldn't have happened to ANYONE, it makes me angry that a doctor wouldn't bother to send her for some simple tests.

Kathy, Thank you so much.  I hope to hear some good news from her or on FB.  But good thoughts and prayers always help.
