Blogging offers unique opportunites to serve your community and this post will honor that capability.  For those of you who know me, you know that helping others is something I like to do and Sheridan House Family Ministries is one organization that I respect dearly.

As a company, Solid Rock Mortgage Corporation has decided to donate a portion of its gross revenues to local charities.  (Click here for the post that announced our intentions)  Sheridan House Family Ministries is one of the charities we chose to give money to because of what they do for our community.

Dr. Robert G. Barnes, is President of Sheridan House and he also occassionally acts as an interim Pastor to local churches.  He, and his wife Rosemary, have written several books on various topics related to family affairs.  Topics that will help parents raise their children and manage their homes.  They are both well respected in our community.

Sheridan House as a ministry provides a residential program for both boys and girls.  They also reach to single mom's providing events like the Single Mom's Breakawy and the Christmas Toy Drive.  They manage a family resource center and publish The Family Advocate, a newsletter covering all types of family issues.  They are there to assist those who are having issues with virtually all kinds of matters related to children, family, and marriage.

They run various events to help raise funds, such as their Annual Golf Tournament and recently had a Monopoly Tournament.  They also have products available such as books and courses that cover many of the topics they assist with.

Sheridan House is in the process of developing 3 new boys homes on a 57-acre property located at I-595 and Flamingo Road.  The 57-acre property will also include duplex-type housing, atraining center and a day care facility to provide single mothers a means of having a fresh start as they put their lives back together. 

They are even involved on a national level through teaching the basics necessary to grow a healthy family in today's society through seminars.
