Golfing throughout the Brandywine Valley, ecncompassing southeastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware, is easy enough. And if you are hardy, as most golfers seem to be, you CAN golf year round - just be wary of the lightening. Here's a breakdown on some of the course in and around Kennett Square.

A nationally-ranked championship golf course designed by Gil Hanse that hosted US Open Champion Jim Furyk's Exelon Invitational (2001 & 2002.) Dramatic elevation changes, wind-swept high grasses, abundant wetlands, and old-world bunkering. Full grass target range, short game area, and 11,000 sq.ft. bentgrass putting green. Semi-private, daily fee facility open to the public seven (7) days a week.

 

 

Chisel Creek Golf Club 13 Chisel Creek Drive | Landenberg, PA | 610.255.3961
Chisel Creek opened in 2000. It was built by Niebur Golf, the same people who built Fieldstone Golf Club, an awesome private course in Delaware. Chisel Creek is a par 70 design, three par 5s, five par 3s including No. 3 with an island green.

The layout puts a premium on placement rather than length. The greens are challenging and undulating. Distances on many holes are deceiving and the rough is stubborn. The par 5, 6th hole is particularly challenging as is the par 4, 12th. Overall, an interesting challenge. Rates $44/weekdays; $59/weekends with cart.

Scottish heathlands style golf, complete with wind, mounded bunkers and moguls. Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest in 2002. Driving range. 18 holes, par 72. Wyncote's all new, full-service clubhouse, with a casual pub, is now open.
