They say that it all depends who you talk to with regards to perspective on an issue. With the down turn in the market last year, as expected, Real Estate Agents have left the profession in groves. With a little over 12,000 agents a year ago to todays 7000 in Orlando, we have seen a "thinning out" of agents and offices!

Are the reduced numbers a good thing? Those of us that have stayed standing say yes as it creates more business and our theory is that it got rid of those people that were not serious about Real Estate. Here's a devil's advocate. Was it really a good thing? How many agents did we lose that were good agents but just had circumstances that prevented them from continuing? What if they had a spouse or significant other who lost their job and they needed a more steady income to make ends meet?

How much talent was lost and will these agents come back as the market improves. Of course, from the inside looking out, it looks pretty sweet. It has coincided with the phone ringing more and with governmental actions designed to bring more buyers off the fence.

A.  Kind of a compound sentence there and I had to add a ? How much talent was lost?  I don't know.  Second part, will these agents come back as the market improves.   Yes these agents or others to replace them will come back when the market changes.

Alot of agents will return. Some have taken on side jobs to keep thier license curent and fees paid. They lack of work for some agents did not reduce the fees they have to pay or the classes that are required for the year. All of this gets expensive. I have a few friends who are working other jobs to support this one for now. They are still motivated agents. They just have to do what they have to do. I am lucky and haven't had to do this yet.

I am not sure if it is good or bad it is what it is.  I do agree that when the market changes folks will return either the old ones or new ones.

I think that some of us will welcome them back as they bring an added professionalism and some of us will look at them as competition. Of course it all depends on who wants to come back. Maybe we will charge a re-initiation fee and these funds can be split by all who stayed through the storm!
