There is a new government website to help homeowners determine if they are eligible for a loan modification or refinance under the Obama plan: www.makinghomeaffordable.gov.
At this user-friendly site, homeowners can find answers to FAQs, counseling resources, details about the plans and information about how to figure out if they qualify. The servicer of loan makes the final decision about who is eligible but this site is a good starting point for homeowners who don't know where to start.
