Trucks Versus a Low Bridge

By
Real Estate Agent with ZipRealty

Hey Fellow Active Rainers, I ran across this You-Tube video while I was surfing the web:

----------------

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzqwFAVsbKo

Although the caption says "Trucks Fail", I think it should be "Trucks and Bridge Fail". How many trucks have to get their top sheared off before town/city/State re-engineer the bridge? Warning or no warning, the bridge is a hazard, so BOTH FAIL!

Yeah, I know. This is more of a "O, Jeez (cringe here)' video than "haha" funny one, but I thought I'd share for the shear absurdity of it.

Hi Lydia - You make a good point. I've seen those signs regarding the height of some bridges. It makes you wonder why they weren't built so that every vehicle on the road can pass under them safely.

We have several of those bridges in Chicagoland. One think that you may be suprised to know is that every time this happens the bridge has to be inspected and quite often repaired which costs a ton.... Great vid and post... Thanks for sharing.

Terry-At least they had sense enough to take it down...Just makes you wonder why they built it so low. Jon-I think it's called "Not thinking ahead". Also they give too much credit/sense to truck drivers to go out and measure their vehicle. Roy-Thanks again. Dean-You have several? And everytime they have to repair, they do it exactly the same height? I'm sure we're all shaking our heads! Thanks for stopping by :) BTW, I really enjoy your postings...they are great!

Lydia, they just took a bad bridge down near us in Fairview Texas. I can only imagine how many accidents it caused!

It does make you wonder why so many crashed like that. NO warning signs or just ignoring them?

Lydia, one more thing to piggyback on Roy's little tutorial.....

If you add
before the video embed link and then add
after it, your video will be centered on your blog post.

Just thought I'd add a little sagely wisdom from your friend in NC!!!
