Many of you know that I am a lifelong biker.  When you think of bikers what comes to mind?  Law breakers?  Tattoos?  Loud Pipes?  Trouble Makers?

You may be surprised to know that as a demographic, bikers contribute more to philanthropic causes than any other group of people in the nation.

I know, some of us including me look kinda scary but once you get to know us you may find that we actually are decent folks.

Much has changed over the years but I am still troubled by the perception that many of you have of us bikers...

Many bikers have a softer side and are damn sensitive.  To prove my point I want to introduce you to one of my most excellent biker brothers Ed.  Ed is a hard core biker who logs a ton of miles and when not riding, Ed serves the people as a police officer.

Ed has raised many thousands of dollars for charity and works tirelessly on behalf of less fortunate folks.  Ed also has a sensitive side....  Dont believe me?  Watch the video...  Nuff Said....

OMG. That is a funny video. You had me laughing out loud! I tell you what. Your buddy seems an awfully nice guy, but do tell him to keep his day job. Is that you laughing in the background? Your laughter put a big grin on my face. I know most of bikers are decent folks...I ought to know. My husband and his buddy are bikers (CEO and CFO of a hi-tech company respectively.) Harley all the way. Also our close friends who are reknowned veterinarian and pet hospitals owners are bikers. One can't really judge a book by its cover. I have to say though, you DO look intimidating...good thing I know that you're just a super decent guy!

Dean,

Great post. Thanks for the funniest video of police officer I can ever remember.  Erie has a very active rider group and have organized annual Roar on the Shore.  Thousands of bikers come for the weekend.  Peter Fonda has lead the ride several times.  Dates: July 16-18. www.roarontheshore.com

Dean,

I grew up around bikers.  Some good some bad but most had such a strong sense of family and loyalty that you don't find today.

Dean,

I don't kow any bikers personally but I do know that they do get involved with Toys for Tots, a charity for children.

When i hear biker I think of 3 things:

1) Rob Halford, singer of the metal band Judas Priest

2) Toys for Tots drives over the years

3) The potato convention.  You know,  a bunch of idling Harleys making the sound..potato, potato, potato (say it quickly)

Too funny. When I think of bikers, I think of loud pipes that can be heard from about 3.14159265358979323846264338327940288419716935537510 miles away. So when I was biking, I tried to break the stereotype by buying a Yamaha Virago 1100. Quietest thing on the road. Sure was nice.

LOL - funny video.  I've always believed that there wasn't any difference between bikers and anyone else.... heck, I'm a boater.  Aren't they just folks that enjoy riding bikes?  We have some really good folks in our part of the country that are bikers.  The Kiamichi Bikers Association are always doing something good for folks and getting their pics in the paper.  Then there's the Christian Bikers Group that is active here also.  Great post.

Hey. I have often wished I had time to cultivate modesty... But I am too busy thinking about myself. I am from Kazakhstan and also now'm speaking English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Save the children opens dol gives back preschool playgrounds in mozambique." THX :-), Luana.
