Guess it's part of the "Vision" but I just don't see it!  It looks like I get a blog (my case it's free), generate traffic and ActiveRain sends them to Reply!.

Not sure I really like this.

I found this through just doing search on google then coming to active rain.  Instead of the top agent in Duluth, GA, I found Justlisted.com.

*Clarification*

User "Trail"

  1. Land on Active Rain User Page (in my case it was Will Addo)
  2. Clicked on Duluth, GA
  3. Clicked on Dacula, GA - POP-UP came to Just Listed!

I just thought it wasn't cool, I guess AR needs to make money somehow though.

CLARIFICATION.

Clicking on the big yellow area that says "See Listings In These Cities" (which I did by accident) will cause the REPLY! pop-up to occur.

Then you didnt set up listing router or have not opted out.

Sorry, I was logged in as you to see if you had your listing router set up so that we weren't routing traffic away from you that you intended to keep. Then I commented on your post on accident. What I meant to say was:

Joshua,

We do send remnant traffic for searches done on ActiveRain where no one is buying listing router traffic or members have not set up the 'my market' area of their listing router to a few remnant buyers. If you want the traffic, we will send it wherever you tell us to send it, for whatever city that might be. If you don't want the traffic, we will send it to the first ActiveRain members to bid on that traffic. If no one bids on it and the owner of the blog does not want traffic for the particular market, then yes, we send it to remnant traffic buyers.......otherwise there is no where to send the person doing the search.

He has his listing router set up. So the searches may be for markets outside of his markets he has identified.......At any point Joshua you can opt out and we won't send anything anywhere........

It wasn't in a "search" for listings.  It ws just clicking on the city through Active Rain.

Read through the post and response and got very confused -- oh well it has been a looong day.

Rather confused as well. So when someone clicked on a listing in your blog they got sent to justlisted.com?

Its free... Even if so, I think it is a great tool.

Joshua,

Thanks for the clarification, I'll have to look into the listing router and see if I can figure out what the issue is.

Hit Router

Hi,

I have set up my hit router, and tried to test it by typing in a city, and  justlisted.com came up, also.  Have i not set my router up correctly? thank you!

I also left you this in an email Ginger:

Ginger,

You have set up the free component of Hit Router. This will route all traffic from your blog, your blog posts, or your profile.

However, in order to get traffic from other members blogs, posts, or the common areas of ActiveRain, you must set up a campaign and pay for that traffic.

If you were to log out and go to your own pages and perform a search based on the markets you set up, you would be taken to your page. You can learn more about Hit Router here:

That is a video that explains it and also has links to tutorial and explanatory posts about Hit Router at the bottom.

Hit Router

Hi Bob,

Thanks for all the superb info! I just did set up the per click deal for my city. I hope it helps! things are really slow right now in my area.   I do love this Active Rain site, where I can learn so very much from my home!   Keep on blogging and thanks again for all the great information!

I guess I still don't get it.  As a buyer I would find it annoying if not misleading to be clicking around on the network links in localism (although the design looks like AR) and being taken to just listed. It works like a pop-up and IS the reason for my lack of participation in this network.

Thanks!

Clicking around on 'network links in Localism'. Joshua, sorry I'm not sure I understand what 'network links in Localism' means. Can you maybe email me a screen shot so I can see which links you are referring to and try to provide our reasoning?

You have total control of your content here to the degree that whatever you choose to include on ActiveRain, you can control what links appear. If you don't want to send content to Localism, you don't have to. If you would like the listing router bar removed from your content, you can choose to do that.

I would love to see if we can figure out the issue because if this is the only reason that you choose not to participate I think there is a valid explanation.......maybe a phone call is in order. I'll try to track you down this week sometime.

oops, bob@activerain.com would be where you would have to email me a screen shot if you have time to do that (since our contact forms do not handle attachments)
