Spring Fresh Cleaning From Soul to Sole Begins With A Journey Through The Seasons

By

There has always been something magical about Spring. Something that just makes the world come back to life and me right along with it. A spring fresh cleaning sort of feeling. A magical time when one's soul and soles are cleaned to start another journey through the seasons.

A Spring Fresh Beginning From Soul to Sole

summers footprintsThey say a journey begins with a single step and this magical spring fresh journey is no different. For me it begins in the Summer. A time when my soul is now bursting with excitement of warm days, vacations, and nights sitting out under the stars. And my soles are delighted with the tickle of wet sand as my footprints follow me through the summer fun. Too quickly it seems my soul is soon wrapped in my favorite sweater as my soles are warmed by the first fire of the season. Thus begins my soul's journey for all things warm as we prepare for the chill of the season to come. Without warning winters full moons start to light up the entire sky and that first snow blankets my world and my soul in silence. And my soles once again become friends with those warm fuzzy slippers hidden in the back of the closet. Winter begins its tightly twined wrap around me and works its magic as my soul and soles begin the journey of reflection of a year gone by, of plans for the new year.

And then it is Spring once again.

A Spring Fresh Cleaning From Soul to Sole

When I see that first Hyacinth peep between it's leaves, the soft wave of muted greens and reds and whites as tree branches release they're blooms of leaves and flowers something inside me transforms. My mind starts to take off on a fresh course of thoughts and ideas. The soles of my feet feel lighter as my walk suddenly has a new spring to it. And my soul? It too feels different as the Spring cleansing makes its way inside of me.

They are backSuddenly that daily walk that had been put away for the winter comes back to my life. With Maggie by my side we venture off to warm our souls and our soles with the spring cleansing feeling of nature coming to life and us along with it. Maggie must surely feel the difference too as I see her stop and listen to the fresh new sounds around her. Her  ears perk up as she stands motionless, listening. But alas, she moves on once again as she remembers; these are the same sounds from many fresh springs before. Life is good once again.

We soon find ourselves venturing to the pond to see if the ducks who have made this their home for raising their young have chosen us again this year. Yes! they are there  once again. And as Maggie and I settle down to watch, the spring cleaning begins all over again as we fill our souls with the beauty of life and rest our soles one last time before the journey begins once again.

A Spring Fresh With Ideas for Changing Times

I've often wondered why Spring seems to always affect me this way. Why it feels so good to my soul. Could it be because my soul is the place that all things begin? Or maybe its my soul that helps me realize and be who I am, brings passion to all I do. Soul searching, after all, knows no seasons so maybe a spring cleaning and cleansing is the perfect thing to accomplish this time of year. A place to begin the journey into changing times with fresh ideas. And why is it that each Spring a lightness permeates the soles of my feet that is not there during other seasons? Could it be those walks into nature Maggie and I now take? Or maybe it happens because my soul is preparing my soles for yet another journey towards yet another set of seasons. Questions, questions.

What I do know is.... As I embrace yet another spring cleaning, without fail, the old is new once again and my soul and soles are lightened for the journey ahead. Even for an 'old' soul like me.

Spring lets us shed our heavy winter skins and gives us that incredible lightness of being that new beginnings offer.  With so much beauty bursting forth a little soul searching is called for--walking on our soles and searching our souls seem to go together.

Beautiful post.

Hi Martha,

What a lovely story and so well written.  Spring; it is a rebirth, all things fresh and new. The wonderful fragrance of flowers, trees blooming, light breezes, baby animals being born...I just love spring, it stirs my soul.

Hey Martha - Yes, spring is here.  Our grass is green and dogwoods are getting ready to pop!  It's a ritual for me to take care of cleaning this time of year - thorough cleaning.  Your blog is a beautifully written look at cleaning - the most important kind!  Congratulations on the feature and thanks!

Give me 80 degrees and up and then my heart will soar like a hawk. I think the Indian chief in Little Big Man said that about 40 times. Still love that movie. I got Dustin Hoffman to autograph my VHS cover.

Spring cleaning Martha I think refreshes our lives and our homes coming out of some kind of stagnation of winter.
