Feng Shui New York-A Reversal of Fortune

Some people still wonder how the art of Feng Shui can truly have such profound impacts on all areas of a client's life.  It is surely about the Feng Shui physical changes that Feng Shui Consultants suggest for your home but it is SO MUCH MORE THEN THAT.

As a Feng Shui Consultant in New York, I find people still confused with the true meanings of other ways to change their lives.  By far, the MOST profound is their thoughts-their Intentions.

It's a process, no doubt about it.  It takes a while to keep a "mental check" on your words and your thoughts.  When I'm with my clients, I will often gently re-phrase the way they say something.

Energy Feng Shui by Feng Shui Long Island & New York

A Few Thoughts to Help YOU Change your thoughts:

Change the "IF" to a "WHEN"

Instead of saying or thinking IF I get enough money-say WHEN I get enough money.

Change the "Cant"s to CANS.  I CAN do this....and I WILL.

When I was growing up, I had a teacher who never allowed us to say the word "can't."  If I said "I can't DO this," she wouldn't answer.  I'd have to re-phrase it to "I'm having difficulty doing this."  She'd come right over and show me exactly how to do it.

You get the idea.  On a recent Feng Shui Consultation in New York City in a beautiful condo, the husband and wife were both listening to me explaining this...and, on occasion, re-phrasing.  The husband "got it"  He started to changes his wife's words a second after they came out.  Now they could "catch" each other.

Intention in Feng Shui by Feng Shui Long Island & New York

I felt wonderful with all your good news :)

Words and thought are powerful. I try not to say "can't" and am teaching that to my kids so they don't say it either. Another interesting note is that if you ask someone "Will you please...?" rather than "Can you please...?" they are more apt to do it. Subconsciously, people think that you are questioning their ability to do something when they hear "can" but if you say "will" they know that you know they can do something and have confidence in them.

I remember as a kid I used to say I can't. I grew out of that phase pretty quickly and rarely ever make that statement anymore.

I think one way to help stop the "negative" thoughts is to put a quarter in a jar every time.  It makes you profoundly aware of when you are doing this!  The YES I CAN attitude is a winning attitude for almost every situation... except jumping off a roof without a parachute and saying FLY FLY FLY!

You are sooo right Carole - Attitude determines altitude - My Kara used to get mad at first when I corrected her wording growning up when she complained about schoolwork using that self limiting phrase you describe (I won't even repeat it here to give it any life LOL ) .....then she would stop herself mid sentence, because she knew I would correct her, then her grades improved, and then her vision of what she wanted to accomplish in life grew, then she really got focused on the "when" and doing what it took to make the "when" a reality..... now she is a practicing attorney!  Amazing what you can achieve if you change your thoughts and words!

Great advice!

Sincerely,

Grace

Sylvie, I will take you up on it, you know :)  And it would be my pleasure!

Martha, They certainly do.  It was a good learning lesson at an early age.

Kate, It amazes me too, even after so many years.  It is work but after a while, your thoughts automatically begin to change!

Sally, You had the BEST Intentions and I'm sure that's why that special Turtle is so powerful!  Just to let you know, he/she is STILL bringing work :)  and one of the reasons my time on here has been so limited---Can I thank you enough?

Libby, That's so interesting about asking "Will you please" and I'm glad you told me because it had never occurred to me.  It does take work to change a thought or a saying around but what a wonderful way to raise children.  They will never believe they "can't!

Bill, Isn't it funny that we can completely change the energy by our thoughts and what we say?  Good for you, it took me a while but they turn themselves now.

Joan, I love your idea and will suggest that as well to my clients :) It might just  be an effective way to take action as well as turn the thought or what's been said.  I love it!

Grace, What a wonderful story and congratulations on a great job of raising your daughter!  I truly believe it is a wonderful way to raise our children, especially when we can start off young.  Thank you so much for sharing that, your "comments" are always so profound.

Carole - excellent post, your attitude to how you approach something truly influences you. I like the idea of never saying "can't". My Father always taught me that "I can do it" no matter what, and it is something I believe, and have taught my children to believe as well.

Carole,
The mind is our most powerful tool and by changing the way we express ourselves what we are doing is "selling ourselves convincing ourselves with our words".  That's the way I see it.

Carole-I think you've been what I have been missing...meaning your posts!  Last night I enjoyed earth hour in perfect silence and so did my husband in a different room.  It got me thinking about many things...the subliminal messages we all send out...the negative's due to economy problems..words...thoughts...and vocabulary...yes I was thinking this last night!

I will admit to an "I can't" now and again, but I realized in reading your post, that I really mean, "I choose not to", because when I hear my grandson say "I can't" I ALWAYS tell him, he CAN, he just has to try! (He's 5!)

I grew up with parents who always said things like "girls can't be doctors", you can't do this, etc. I know what that type of message sends to children. Good reminder to use the positive to clients too!. I like the when instead of if wording too!

Sharon, That is out best opportunity....to teach our children that anything is possible.  What a wonderful way to grow up and I, too, have parents that always encouraged me all along the way.

Cynthia, I think our minds changed the energy and draw things to us.  If we don't have good thoughts, we likely aren't going to get good things.  I see such a difference when my clients see this and I watch as things they never would have believed would happen, DO.  And luckily get to hear about it!

Midori, Maybe picking up on some energy? I always feel that we are ALL connected and I honestly do believe in Six Degrees of Separation.  It's sometimes FINDING those six people :)  I would have loved to be in NYC last night, can't imagine the lights out on Broadway and the Empire State Building.

Cathy, You are SO right, it is instant.  Sometimes people can't believe it and how different things become after a consultation when they just change some old habits of negativity they are not even aware of.

Linda, I had the oppposite....no matter how 'far fetched' something was that we wanted to do, we were encouraaged to TRY it.  Makes you realize at an early age even if you happen to fail, at least you've TRIED.

kate, They truly "Got it."  I have spoken to them since already and just FEEL much better....so does their home.  What a nice thing to hear, I can't wait to see what's done the road for them.

Carole, our thoughts and words are more powerful than most realize.  In addition to your great examples, the other day I was introduced to replacing "have to" with "get to."  As in, "I get to meet someone at 3:00" versus "I have to meet someone at 3:00."  "Get to" has a benefiting connotation instead of the punitive sound of "have to."

It takes effort to be mindful of our words but the rewards are many.  Not the least of which is a more peaceful experience.  Thanks for another great read. =)

Reminds me of the children's tale The Little Engine That Could .... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can ...

Maybe we  should do a re-write and say ... I know I can, I know I can, I know I can

Maggie, They really are and we CAN turn them around.  I love your example and I will use it.  I truly believe we can change our outcomes by our thoughts and words.

Carol, You will not believe this but my daughter did exactly that.  She made a little book for an artclass and re-worded it!  We both correct eachother if one of us "slips."

Monica & Ray, I am still amazed at how powerful it is.  I sometimes believe our minds can overcome just about anything.

Paddy, It's a process but when people get it, they see and feel such a difference.  There is power in our beliefs and it affects our outcomes.
