In Praise of Disruption

Looking for a way to break out of a creative rut?  There's nothing like stirring up a little turbulence to get new thoughts flying.

My tool of choice?  Disruption!  The word is difficult, uncomfortable but "Disruption" is not destructive. It's creation. Disruption is a means of creating something dynamic to replace something that has become static. 

Sometimes you have to crack the mold of standard conventional thinking..and shatter biases in order to set creativity free!   Disruption provides us with the opportunity to...

* Ask better questions

* Challenge conventional wisdom

* Overturn assumptions and prejudices

                      All these get in the way of imagining new possibilities and visionary ideas...

            

 

I guess we've all heard the "its always been done that way." But are you one of those that keeps asking......"Why?"......Why and........and Why are things the way they are?  Thats where undiscovered and hidden truths are found...........in the 'Why'...is where potential lies.......

A well-articulated vision inspires the people to change the way a company thinks and acts. It provides a rallying cry that can propel it into the future.

Disruption seeks to retire old, low-yielding ideas and launch new, highly profitable ones. A disruptive idea is quite simply the best and fastest way to overturn conventions and achieve a vision.

What?

What if?

And What if?

And What if led to another What if?

Disruption is all about risk-taking, trusting your intuition, and rejecting the way things are supposed to be. Disruption goes way beyond advertising, it forces you to think about where you want your company to go and how to get there.

The strong pull to maintain the status quo, the resistance to disruption are an almost physical barrier to what is possible. Creativity, real power, communication and high productivity are not possible when everything is designed around a culture of no disruption.

Two empowering contexts... One - that any progress, any new paradigms always require disrupting the current reality.

Two - just the thought of disruption socially  is the source of most suppression. Really creating an empowering context for disruption allows people to be free to be and the organization to recreate itself on the cutting edge.  How exciting is that? :-)
