A low cost way to go Environmentally Green is Worm Composting.  After a recent trip to my son in San Francisco, I wanted to do more to help The Environment, and to become a little more Environmentally Green in Toledo Ohio.  So I decided Worm Composting would be an easy and fun way to do this.

My journey began by going on eBay to see how much a worm composting bin would cost to get started.  I was really surprised on the high cost of the bins, bedding, and the cost  of red wiggler worms one had to buy to start.  So I looked for articles on the Internet.  I found A Great Article on the Internet on how to get started with worm composting Click Here.

In February, I bought 2, 18 gallon plastic bins w/ lids for $10.00, and I have been saving newspaper for the bedding.  Now for the worms, I read they had to be red wiggler worms.  I had heard of red worms for fishing, but I really did not know if there was a difference between red fishing worms and red wiggler worms.  I heard one could get red worms at fishing bait shops.  So I started calling.  The red worms are not in yet I was told.  I had been calling for 2 weeks when I read an editorial in my newspaper in March about worm composting.  I wrote to Kathy who wrote the editorial about my new interest.  She mentioned that she has been worm composting for 10 years.  When she first started, someone gave her red wigglers for free and today at 9:30AM I am meeting Kathy for my red wigglers.  I can't wait to meet Kathy and get started.
