Willie AamesEven some actors are feeling the housing crunch. Eight apparently wasn't enough for Willie Aames.

The star of Charles in Charge and Eight Is Enough, after filing for bankruptcy last year and whose house is in foreclosure, has been reduced to holding a garage sale at his Olathe, Kansas, home to raise some money.

Among the items on sale Thursday, March 26th were antiques, artwork, a piano, leather couches, a TV set, a mounted lion's head and other stuffed wildlife the 48-year-old had hunted, and movie memorabilia.

Aames also signed autographs while a film crew recorded the event for a TV documentary about his life.

After his stints on TV and a self-admitted addiction to cocaine, the former child actor became religious and visited schools in a superhero costume as "Bibleman."

He moved to the Kansas City area in the 1990s, after filming a syndicated fishing show there.

The rise and fall of so many - so sad.  I have to admit I watched Confessions of a Teen Idol and was so pleased with Christopher Atkins (blue lagoon fame) being given a second chance.  Thanks for sharing this story Lara.

Remember the movie Zapped!?

One of my guilty pleasures when I was a kid! LOL

I hate to see anybody down on their luck, but it looks like he is working hard to create some opportunity out of his bad situation. It is good to see hiim being a positive influence with the children.

Thanks for sharing!

The economy hits everyone, Lara.  I believe Willie Aames even had some kind of Christian superhero show (Bible Man, I think) at one time as well.

Wow can drugs really wreck your life.  I just don't understand that mentallity or I just don't understand the culture that put him in a place where drugs were so prevailent for such young children.

That's really too bad. It looks like his past lifestyle really took a toll on him. He really hasn't aged well.

Lara, I do remember watching Eight is Enough years ago but I sure can't place him.  Maybe somehow this will all turn for good in his life.  The Lord does work in mysterious ways.

It sounds like he is handling things much better now, realistically and with a sense of humor.
