11 Springtime Pop-bys, Mailings and Events for April
APRIL
This time of year, it is easy to put our client maintenance activities at the end of the list due to increasing demands from our current buyers and sellers. To help you stay on track through the month of April, I am happy to share my list of pop-by, mailing, and customer appreciation event ideas. As always, please chime in with ideas you have found to be successful.
Mailings
1. Car wash coupons. Stop in at your local car wash and see if they would be willing to provide a special offer just to the people in your database in the form of a coupon that you can include in your note cards.
2. Postage stamps. In May, the U.S. Postal Service will be increasing the rate for first class mail to 44 cents. So at the end of April be sure to include a handful of stamps with your notes. If your budget is tight, you can send 2 cent stamps to help your clients make up the difference between the old and new rates.
3. April Fool's Jokes. If you act quickly, you can include a short page of jokes and riddles with your cards that you send early this week. Here's a fun maze for starters.
Pop-Bys
1. Vacation supplies. In Massachusetts, we have school vacation weeks in both February and April. For April vacation, you could pop by with items to make a travel vacation go more smoothly: sunscreen, magazines for mom and dad, cosmetic bags, travel-sized bath items, game books and crayons for kids, phone card for emergency use, bottles of water.
2. Stay-cation coupons. Help mom and dad keep the kids busy during school vacation week by giving coupons for local attractions, from indoor water parks to bowling to kids' museums. Do this as a pop-by, and your clients will appreciate the fact that you are thinking of their schedules during vacation week.
3. Flowers and seeds. A popular stand-by, showing up at the door with a bright bunch of tulips or a collection of seed packs. Better yet, pop some seeds into a starter planter filled with potting soil for clients who you know will enjoy caring for the seedlings.
4. Six-pack of beer or soda. Your clients will appreciate this after a day of yard work or golf.
5. Little baskets of chocolate. You can be the Easter Bunny for clients who celebrate Easter.
6. Baseballs. Drop off a fresh supply for your baseball fanatic clients.
Client Appreciation Events
1. Easter Egg Hunt. There is still time to team up with a local candy shop to sponsor a good ol' egg hunt. You can hold this just for your clients, or even open it up to the community for more exposure.
2. Community Clean-Up. Ask your clients to get involved in giving back to the community by participating in the clean-up of a park, school grounds, or other community outdoor area. Sponsor the event and provide coffee and donuts, or pizza at the end. Make sure the press are invited to document your efforts.
That's my list for this month. I hope you are able to find time to put some of these ideas into play.
