Sometimes there is hope for a poorly furnished room

Recently I was photographing a new listing that was sparsely furnished.  In all fairness the property was being rented by resident doctors.  The agent wasn't sure if I should even bother with photographing the bedrooms on the second level.  I said, "Lets take a look" and to my surprise, this is what I found...

Hmmmmm, what to do?  I thought I had to take photos of at least 2 of the 4 bedrooms, but mats on the floors for beds just wasn't going to work...

Here's what I came up with.

I searched through my files for some simple beds.  I used the Magnetic Lasso Tool in Photoshop to select the bed then Copied and Pasted it into the new listing photo.  I added a slight Shadow to that layer and that's it.

If you're using a professional to photograph your listing they should be able to do this without much effort just ask, or if you have basic Photoshop skills try it yourself!

Ideally, a home that has been staged will definitely photograph better but as the saying goes, sometimes you have to work with what you've got!

Interesting.  Never thought of that.  I guess its ok because they are movable objects.

Anna, So glad to know that you realize the importance of staging. I wish everyone would. I know it's just not in the budget sometimes. But boy I could have done wonders for  just a few hunderd dollars.  But you have to do what you have to do sometimes. Good job!

This is a great tool for photos, but my thought was, what will the buyer think when they see the real digs?

Photoshop is great tool...I wish I could master it!  Thanks for the idea...I film alot of homes with the same issues.  BTW...I think the second photo in particular looks 100% better.

I think once you get people to the house it will be ok. The on-line presence needs to look nice just to get the lookers.
