Razor Clamming: Life in scenic Washington State

Another of my favorite leisure pastimes here in scenic Washington State is razor clamming out on the coast (Razor Clamming in WA).

On several select weekends of the year (normally late Fall through early Spring) the Washington Department of Fish and Game opens various coastal beaches for people to chase the illusive razor clam (WA Dept. of Fish & Game).

Our last trip out last Spring was amazing. The scheduled dig started around 7AM, so we had to leave the house around 4AM. But we got to the beach just as the sun was coming up over the horizon. Man, it was incredibly beautiful.

Yeah, most times you need to dress warm, with layers. And a change of clothes because you do get wet. But it's all worth it. Great family times!

Wow Rich, great pictures. I haven't eaten razor clams yet. I hear they are fab. Are they the same as goeduckK?

Karen, I was thinking the same thing.  Sure looks like a geoduck.

No, much smaller than geoducks. But they do taste incredibly good!
