I LOVE the spell checker in AR...it does wonders for my
occasional blunders in typing the english language.
BUT...if I could have a spell checker that checks everything
AS I am typing, that would be WONDERFUL!!!
WELL GUESS what???
You CAN have that feature...and all you have to do is some
simple clicks and other stuff.
First, please remember that if you screw up your browser settings, I told you how to do this right.... it's NOT my fault...hehehehe!
So, like I said, if you want to get an ON THE FLY spell checker for your firefox browser, here is how to do it:
(So far I have had to use the spell checker a total of 5 TIMES just typing this post....and IT WORKS GREAT!!)
- Open a NEW TAB in your firefox browser.
- In the internet address bar, type: about:config (Type JUST the bold stuff... OR you can copy and paste the bold type into the address bar and save some frustration if you misspell something...LOLOlololol)
- Hit the "Enter" key
- Then type (OR COPY AND PASTE) into the "Filter" address bar: layout.spellcheckDefault
- You will then see the command for the spell checker come up in a box. DOUBLE CLICK on the line for the command and change the parameter from 1 to 2.
- Close the command box.
- Close out the config box (The Tab you opened in the browser)
- Now, open up a NEW tab and enter in any type you need to in a text box (Your comment HERE would be a nice way to check things while you are typing....hehehehe)
- If the spell checker does NOT automatically underline a wrongly spelled word....... THEN right click on the text box and enable spell checking by clicking on the appropriate item in the list (It will say...."Spell Check" OR "Check Spelling")
- Your browser will NOW have spell checking enabled in your FIREFOX BROWSER !!!
- I DO NOT know if you have to enable spell check in EVERY text box....so..... DO let me and everyone else know, ok?
Have fun out there in AR-land...and remember....we ALL have
"Fun in the Rain" if we help each other in our professions!!
