What matters to you?

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Executives

I think we don't ask each other this question enough. However, it's at the very core of who we are--what motivates us. Why do you get out of bed? What's most important to you?

For me, the motivator is my daughter, Ashlyn, who is three. She is fascinated with ladybugs and loves singing in front of the church. She plans to marry her daddy someday. An excellent choice, I must say, as his first wife. She loves having her fingernails painted, she adores dresses and tiaras. On the other hand, she loves riding the tractor and digging in the mud. She forgives me when I lose my temper. She gives "nosies" and thousands of kisses. She is just the coolest kid ever.

My child makes me want to get up every day, even in a tough market. She keeps me cheerful and focused when there are dishes in the sink and more bad news on the TV. I did not know you could love anyone as fiercely as I love her. I now know it is true that to be a mother "...is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” as Elizabeth Stone said.

Being a mother has taught me to bite my tongue more often. What does it really matter if there is pudding mixed in with the paint? "The picture needed it, mom!"

I am truly lucky to love what I do, and for my career to wholly embrace the center of my life. Being a Realtor, I know first hand how important it is to have ample walk-in closets and excellent schools. Of course, as a mom, I am also picky about how far the park is and where the urgent-care centers are. After all, I know what matters most to the client.
