We've all seen the commercial with the duck quacking... AF-LAC! He quacks.  Everyone's talking (er, quacking) about AFLAC!

Just what is it?  AFLAC is supplemental insurance, designed to pay cash directly to you when you get hurt.  This cash fills the gaps that your health insurance doesn't cover - exams, physical therapy, accidents, rehabilitation, ambulance, and travel.  These benefits act as a safety net for accidents or illness.

AFLAC can be combined with any health care plan, helping to cover your co-pays and deductibles, or it can be purchased as a stand-alone product.  It is NOT insurance or a substitute for insurance.

Who needs AFLAC?  Individuals and families can benefit from supplemental insurance, which is 100% portable and non-cancelable.  It can be paid individually or through an employer-sponsored plan, payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis.

One thing I like about AFLAC is that they have cancer plans, as well as emergency room plans.  One of the down sides of AFLAC is that they don't have many good plans available for self-employed business professionals.  Most of the plans are geared to be employer-sponsored.

Wendy, I used to have an AFLAC rep in my BNI group, she's wonderful and explained the product to our group.  Yes it's a good service; alas, geared mostly towards employees.

Shelton, yea, you always see those commercials, but sometimes you don't know what they're really trying to say, it's just a cute duck quacking!

We tried to get AFLAC eight years ago but they turned us down. They didn't like incomplete records from our doctor(s) but they couldn't tell us what was incomplete about them so that we could contact the appropriate doctor, and they didn't like the 30 days that we went uninsured.

The key thing to remember is AFLAC is designed to be an employee benefit SUPPLEMENT.  I have heard many employers are dropping their health plans and going with AFLAC because it costs a lot less than health insurance.  It costs less because it pays for less.

I am not against AFLAC.  I think the coverages are great and with a complete benefit package it can really fill some gaps to help people avoid financially difficulty.

One last note.  Something is always better than nothing.  If your company can not afford a traditional benefit plan at least you could offer something.  Everyone is doing their best right now and no one can fault you for that.

For all types of insurance needs including, investment properties, landlord insurance, vacant properties even while being rehabbed, or any other insurance including AFLAC, contact us at http://www.getgliga.com

Donald, thanks for your post, you're right that AFLAC is great but it's only a supplement, not health insurance.  It starts coverage where health insurance leaves off...
