How many of you think like I do about working for a company all your life expecting to take a retirement package with you that you have contributed to all your working life. Pleased with the effort you have given to your company and feeling like part of something so much bigger than yourself only to find that the retirement funds are not there. You are older now, your youth is spent and the next 15 to 20 years of your life will be spent scraping by on social security and your part time retail store greeter job You would do something else if you could get a better job but with age and declining health there is not much to be had. This is the price we pay to be a capitalist society. We all feel like it is worth it.
On the other hand, is it the same for a CEO? No, we are treating them like aristocrats. When they do not perform satisfactorily, are they fired? If they are, do they leave like the rest of us? Do they go look for a retail store greeter job to make ends meet? Do they go apply for unemployment? No, they don't have to. They walk away with our tax money. Like the GM CEO who is expecting 20 million dollars! He is being asked to leave. Isn't that being fired for poor job performance? Why is he being given any money? Is this capitalism?
Note: nothing wrong with a greeter job. This is an important position for public relations but shouldn't fired CEO's have to work like the rest of us?
