Biblical Contingencies

Gods Promises are Contingent...

God woke me up this morning with this one idea, that His promises are contingent...

Wait don't get me wrong, Yes God's promises are yes and Amen in Christ Jesus, Yes they are available to every believer, but have I met the contingencies to receive all the promises? When we were NOT believers we did not have Salvation, but once we believed that Jesus was the way the truth and the life, and we trusted him with our very existence then we removed the contingency that kept us from receiving everlasting life.

In just the same way, there are some promises that we want, or we must have in order to get through this life healthy and whole and also to thrive in the business world. It rains on both the righteous and the wicked; it also shines on the same. I have the umbrella if I'm His child but can I open it up?

In Exodus 15:26 Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.

I guess all of a sudden I understood something, I must first meet the contingency, what is it you ask? I must trust in and rely on and obey and keep all His statutes, Wow, that is impossible how can I ever receive from God, when I'm not perfect? Well that's where Jesus comes in He doesn't come in to abolish the law but to fulfill it, by trusting in what He accomplished on the Cross, and trusting Him with my life he takes care of what I have been unable to accomplish on my own, but here is the contingency, God doesn't want second best, or leftovers.... He wants first place in our lives, He is a jealous God and wants us to put him first.

Matthew 6:33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Sometimes we get so caught up, in the daily grind taking care of business, children, families, chores that we find at the end of the day, we haven't spent any real quality time with God, He is like a jealous lover, He wants us to put Him first.... That is the Contingency.

When the contingency has been met the umbrella opens up, and keeps us dry even when others get wet. I just want to please God with my whole heart and I know when I do that His promises pour out onto my life.

I want this to be my business motto, God first; everything else comes after that...

This is doing Business God's way, using Kingdom principles.

Read your title - God's Promises are Contingent and thought . . . wait a minute - not my unconditional loving God!  But yes, you are so right on -- I'm guilty as well, the day gets away from me with  not enough time spent plugging into the lifeline I know is my real priority. Thanks for sharing from your heart.

AMEN! Thank you, Shannon. What a wonderful way to remember Jesus as #1 in our lives...and not let him slip into the background.
