Puerto Rico - My Heart's Devotion

Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, ceded to the United States from Spain in 1898 after the Spanish-American War.  But, unlike many territories, Puerto Rico is more like a self-governing commonwealth.  What also sets this commonwealth apart is that it thrives with its own lifeforce and culture.

Puerto Rico has nearly four million residents who live the "beach life" with fun in the sun and sand.  It has over 260 miles of sandy beaches.  You can catch a few awesome waves in the ocean that surrounds it.  Or do some snorkeling and scuba diving off shore Guánica or in the cays of the Spanish Virgin Islands of Culebra and Vieques, where you will explore the mystical and magical animals of the deep.

Also, do some history trip planning before you go, and head to the oldest settlement in the United States established in 1509 in the historic district of Old San Juan. Go spelunking in the third-largest underground cave system on earth.

Never made it to the Amazon, but still want to see the rainforest?  Would you be surprised to know that there's one close by?  Check out El Yunque rainforest while you are in Puerto Rico.  It's home to nine protected nature reserves.

Whatever your fancy is, Puerto Rico has it!
