This is a story that bears repeating... I know I have blogged before about how important good photography is to tell your own story but now I have proof as to how it can help you tell a BIGGER story.

National print media uses the web as a means to find good photos to use in conjunction with the feature stories they are publishing on the home staging and interior redesign.

Home Magazine recently found our website http://www.realestaging.com and contacted us, asking if they could use photos of our staging work for a feature story they were going to be publishing in their June 2007 issue. Of course we agreed.

But the point I really want to make is... we shoot our jobs. We made a commitment right from the start to take the time to completely and thoroughly photograph each and every one of our stagings.

Through the years, with each home staging we completed and photographed, we got better and better at capturing our work. Yes, it took us awhile to learn how to use our cameras... but we have gotten pretty good at it. We are all self taught.

There may be a time when we will have to hire a professional photographer... but investing in the time to learn and do the best we can has paid off now in yet another way.

Thanks Home Magazine... we are thrilled and honored!

Craig- this issue has been sitting on my nightstand for days reminding me that I do not have time to read.  I had not idea this article was inside!  I ran right upstairs to get it and read the article.  Congratulations - your photos ARE great.  No wonder they wanted to use them!

Craig- keep reminding.  Staging makes the difference between selling a house, and having it sit.

Craig - Congratulations!!!!  I am working all the time on my photography skills.  I recently took afters shots of a kitchen that I staged.  We really did a lot of work and the outcome was great.  Took a few months complete the job. When I went to check out the B&A's I realized that the before was shot ,before I got my new camera, and before I really knew what I was doing.  I only took one photo and it is terrible.  There is nothing sadder than a great transformation going to waste due to poor photography.

Hopefully that will not happen again!  Live and learn.

Hi Craig,

Congrats for having your photos featured in Home magazine - that's quite an accomplishment!

I must admit that I knew absolutely nothing about taking pictures and then went and bought a digital camera that I knew even less about.  Being that I am a 'show me' person and didn't read the manual, it's been a real learning experience for me!

You have taught me a lot about taking pictures - I have learned from your different blogs on the subject...so thank you!  I am taking better pictures now than I did in the beginning, and I trust that I will keep getting better as I go along.

Wow oh wow!  Congratulations, Craig.  Gorgeous pictures.  Given how important photos are, I'm considering hiring a professional for some of the homes I've staged.  I Just need to get out there and get some pricing from them to ensure its' not cost prohibitive.

Congrats again.

I love your photos as well, good on you and Home magazine for finding you.

I just recently bought a wide angle lens for my camera and know I'll have to get good at it quickly so I can include virtual tours in my services now that I've been introduced to Real Estate Shows.  Now if I can just find the instructions...

Craig,

Congratulations! Your posts have actually caused me to hire a professional photographer. Well hire is a loose term, I actually barter with him. He takes my photos in exchange for me promoting him to agents in my newsletter and when I stage vacants his work is what is displayed. So far this arrangement has worked out well.

Congratulations!!!!   Wow!  That is almost as cool as Jane Fonda having your love child.

Seriously (which is very hard for me), you deserve the mention.  I am going to get a copy so I can point to it and say "HEY, I KNOW THE GUY THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE".

Hi Craig,

That is so cool, Congratulation! I have to admit I am a camera noob! But your posts on cameras and pictures taking have really helped a lot. I even had the realtor I work for use my pictures instead of hers because mine were taken at a better angle. While I have a looooooong way to go, I am gretting better! Thank you!

Congratulations Craig.  I need to obtain a copy so I can further admire your work and acknowledgment.

Thank you for reiterating the importance of good photography when selling.  Have you seen the article published in The New York Times: Making Every Pixel Count?  For those interested, I recommend checking it out.  http://http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/11/realestate/11cov.html?ex=1328763600&en=719e82d9b3d61c33&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

Congratulations on the spread Craig! Your photography is unparalleled!

I think it's critical for stagers to train themselves on photography as well.  Through practicing and photographing my work I've learned what the lens likes and dislikes, and it's changed and improved my staging strategy!  I now focus my staging around the 'list' look of the room.

I'll be picking up a copy of Home Magazine today!!!

Question:  do you offer photography as part of your services to your clients?  If so, how many of your Realtor clients utilize your photographs?  Do you size them for the MLS for them?
