It's taken several months, but the GOP is finally starting to reveal its true feelings about its 2008 VP nominee.  In summarizing the GOP sentiment, Fox News produced one of today's interesting headlines... "Republicans Disinvite Palin to Major Fundraiser".

Two weeks ago all reports indicated that Palin would be the keynote speaker at an annual Senate-House Dinner in Washington on June 8.  With today's announcement that Newt Gingrich is replacing Palin, suddenly Palin's underlings are arguing that she never committed to the event.

The future of the GOP appears dim with leadership from Limbaugh, Steele or Jindal.  And the future of the GOP appears even dimmer with prospects of leadership from Palin.  In the Alaska Governor's few months as a nationally recognized politician, Palin was as polarizing as any politician in recent history.  For example, she appeared to have even stronger convictions, and even less knowledge on those convictions, than George Bush.  At least she read a teleprompter better than Bush.

Is Sarah Palin only a part of the GOP's past... what are your thoughts?

Best regards,
Jay

I think Sarah Palin plays politics about as well as she plays the flute.

Jay,

Bush, Palin and the rest of them look like kitten compared to the new leader.

Gotta love the guy who ripped the country off in just 3 months and people are still happy.

Is being blind a blessing?

Patricia, thanks for your comment.  It gave me a good laugh!

Jon, our president is trying to prevent a depression.  Should he play golf more often or do what he can to pull our country out of a recession?

Jay, she is toast!  Thankfully.  Its been really fun watching the GOP implode right before our eyes.  BTW I didn't  know bush read from a teleprompter?  From what I've heard here, only Obama "has" to do that.

10:06pm • #8

Gary, I agree with you that the both know how to use a teleprompter.  However, it's the Q&A that stumps Palin everytime.

Terry, it has been amazing to see how quickly the GOP has disintigrated.

10:19pm • #9

Yes Jay I agree With Terry definitely in the toaster. I mean let get real how serious can people take you when you end up on Saturday Night Live. Don't get me wrong she is a very beautiful women, but thats all that there is.

Thank goodness.  We were having a conversation about her today and I couldn't belive that there are people that still think she has a chance.  She can't get out of the national spotlight fast enough for me.

Jay, the funny thing is that he should play golf more often. You can't change the climate, and restart the economy, you can only prolong the disaster. Not doing anything has pretty much similar effect on the economy, than doing everything. There are bunch of diseases, that can be cured in 6 days with heavy medication with a lot of adversary side effects, and that can take 7 days, if you do nothing. Economy is a clear example of that. Since January, there is much more activity in real estate in Florida, and not only in Florida. Hey, this is the worst economy, Obama did not do anything for the housing market, that you can attribute it to him, and in January this was a mute issue anyway, so the market started warming up in the period of getting yet into the worst crisis, like they scream. Any logic here? No. Economy is not driven by presidents and their affect on it is a matter of political gains. Clinton came when the economy started going up, and he just rode it on the wave until it was going down. He was just a lucky guy enjoying girls, and doing nothing for the economy. Oh no, he did something. They forced the banks to start giving risky loans for his political gain. Not Bush, by the way, is the cause, as you like to think. This was set off by Clinton.

So, yeah, let him play golf, and we will do much better.

Obama could be a national hero for what he did not do, and if he did not do anything. He will also be in the history as the biggest destroyer of wealth.

Not to see it is tragic. Happened to many other countries, I was sure America wold not get caught in this trap. It is happening now. We will be over with the crisis with or without the intervention of Obama. We will be out with the money, that we can save from this guy, or without this money, By the way this is not his money, this is already not your children,s money, this is already your grandchildren's money, but hey, he is such a cool guy, heck with our grandchildren

You are a bit pre-mature with your musings about the downfall of GOP leadership. Yes while Palin's future is a bit uncertain, fear Limbaugh and his influence. Don't forget the role he played in the Republicans sweeping into power in the House & Senate during the first mid-term elections during Clinton's 1st term.

Wiliam

You make a very valid point .  I remember well listening to Limbaugh in the first mid term in the first Clinton era. I actually switched parties after that election and never looked back. The more Limbaugh is criticized, the more attention he gets, the greater his influence. I am surprised at how many of my liberal friends are beginning to tune in to the man. I have tried to listen to opposition hosts like Alan Combs...but the conversations typically become mindless and incoherent.

Nas, she had fewer lines on SNL than the audience!

Kate, it seems that Palin's current supporters stopped watching her after the Republican National Convention.  How could anyone support Palin after Gibson, Couric, the debate with Biden, etc.?  The "gotcha" media only makes uninformed, unqualified politicians look bad.  For example, not even O'Reilly could rattle Obama and Couric rattled Palin by asking her what she reads!

Tchaka, I hope so!

Jon, yes we can compare the economy to a medical condition... you can take lots of pills for the common cold, but it's usually just as well to take nothing.  However, the state of our economy is more like a heart attack than a cold.  And heart attacks usually require medical intervention - doing nothing is disastrous.

William, the biggest difference between 1994 and 2009 is the economy.  Limbaugh's realm of mainstream influence has also diminished due to Oxycontin and his racists comments on Monday Night Football.

Trey, the purpose of Alan Colmes on Fox News was to boost Sean Hannity's image and nothing more.  Fox News would never have allowed someone on par with Bill Maher or Jon Stewart to actually challenge the Ailes/Murdoch agenda.

Sorry Jay, most importantly...Sarah Palin had more qualifications than Barak Obama and now we all are seeing how embarrasing he really is on foreign soil.

But nothing will convince you liberal blind followers of socialism and marxism.

Freedoms are eroding but nothing said but Sarah is fading.
