This just in from California Association of REALTORS (C.A.R.) president James Liptak. On Thursday, April 2, the association is launching a program for first-time buyers who lose their jobs. The Housing Affordability Fund Mortgage Protection Program (C.A.R.H.A.F. MPP) could provide up to $1500. per month for up to 6 months to make mortgage payments, to a buyer who loses their job. There will also be a $10,000. death benefit available. There are a number of qualifying factors, including opening escrow after April 1 and closing on the property before 12/31/09. And of course, the property needs to be in CA! C.A.R. is dedicating $1,000,000. to the fund this year. More information is available and an application can be requested from your REALTOR.

Tamara, wow, that seems like a very exciting program... Not sure if it will help or not. And it does sound strange coming from a local Realtor Association, but these are unique times. I have heard of similar programs from lenders. Anyway, if it helps you sell more homes and has no negative repercussions for you, I'm all for it!!! Sounds like a win-win.
