7 Comments on A Real Estate Blogging Event - Let's Write An Article, Together
I, for one, love this because I'm going to sit back and watch and not participate and not have an opinion and not give input, knowledge, spin, comments, criticism, just support. Voyeuristic blogging at it's best. I wish you the best, have fun, good luck. I'll be rooting for the team. Can't wait
And the graphic is "tomato" (I bet you get that all the time, don't you?)
After this week, I'm rethinking the idea of being a lone practitioner....
I am part of a husband / wife team and what I found is that blogging, like in business, we have different strengths and weaknesses, different people are attacted to each of us. It's always funny to see who chooses to assoicate with whom.
I have found that since we write differently and have different style we attract different people to each blog. Actually with the mybloglog we're seeing what's drawing prospects in and while I may have more points - we've also focused on a niche with his and kept it purer (less AR members only posts) - it draws more clients who click through to ask for additional info from us.
I think the best part of teams is when you compliment each others strengths and minimize each others weaknesses.
Someone recently told me an observation they had about non-married teams - they said the challenge they had seen was the inevitable competition and breaking away. If married - it's all going to the same bank account - at least at my house - so no issues about splits, egos, etc.
Those are a few thoughts before my brains ready for bed. I'll come back tomorrow....hope this helps you out.
The biggest advantage of a team is for the consumer. A team for the price of one. Heading up a team is like being a business owner and CEO you are responsible for the total package. The expertise and viewpoints of the team members leads to better service and marketing. We recently started the entire team blogging with some resistance which is understandable as buyer specialists like to sell real estate not write copy. As with any team some are more gifted than others but all are participating and using vflyer has made it easier for those that are not comfortable with a more personal blogging format.
On getting started with a team it is important to have a good foundation and contract which specifically states what is expected. Educating the consumer on how the team operates and why it is an advantage is also important. Effective communication is key whether it is by e-mail or face to face in planning your accountability sessions with your team.
To Team or not to Team...that has been the question. It was a question that I pondered quite a bit several years ago. My referral base made the answer quite apparent. The clients were sick of teams and found it very confusing. They wanted to know that the person they hired was the person they would be talking to throughout their transaction. The person who would take full responsibility and not shrug off to someone else. So, I listened and complied. Personally, I do not take on any more business than I can handle. I take care of my clients since I'm in the business for the long-run and not short haul.
In a very real sense I do have a team, my team is my Lender who I can count on to do the ethical loan for my clients and the Title Co. with a great escrow officer that knows her job and communicates, well.
The key is communication. Without that you loose your credibility and eventually your clients. My clients hire me and they want me so they get me. Until that changes, I'll keep doing what works well for me.
Working with a team offers several advantages:
Let's say your team has 10 members. That gives you the potential to offer 10 times the service, 10 times the expertise and 10 times the assistance to your clients!
