Are you getting to old to learn or just lazy?

By
Real Estate Agent with Pine Knoll Shores Realty

When real estate was really moving agents were saying I don't have time for education now that real estate has slowed down the agents are saying I don't have money for education.  Well you know what; like everything else in life we make time for what we think is important.

I spent all day Tuesday in class.   To some people that would be a bummer but I loved every minute of it.  Kathryn Gorham, my table mate has already written a blog on the class (Going Green) so I will not go into the details of the class.  Oh I do have to say the class was taught by Mark Given a marvelous teacher.  He is a national speaker that our little ole association has been privileged to be associated with the past several years to teach classes.  We knew him before he was famous and thankfully he still remembers us.  Thanks Mark.

Most of the classes I take are just awesome and I go home with a lot of things I think are so great.  But even at a snoozer I manage to stay awake long enough to bring at least one thing home of value.

I have several designations already and another completed I just haven't sent in the paperwork.   It is not the beautiful "jewelry" or the letters behind my name that I value but the knowledge.  If you are really serious about this business you need to get moving and get some education NOW before you get "to busy" again.  Please do it if not for yourself do it for your customers and clients they deserve the best you can offer.

Paula:  You deliver a great message to all of us Realtors.  Even the most boring classes just have to have at least ONE new idea we can take home and benefit from.  Anyone who says otherwise is just being foolish.  Thanks for sharing...

Paula,  I totally agree with you.  As a BIC I don't get credit for any electives but I get in several every year.  I know I need to keep learning and I owe it to my customers, clients and associate brokers to stay on top of things.  Thanks for helping bring good classes to our area.

Paula, You are so right.  I am very excited about the marketing class tomorrow morning.  I don't get any CE for it, but know that I will learn atleast one new thing.  If not from the class itself, from my fellow REALTORS.

Paula,

I totally agree. Expanding our education now is creating an edge for agents who take advantage of it now. Staying sharp, picking up new ideas, staying motivated and just staying in the game rather than sitting around complaining gives an edge to those who take the time now.

I know you spent another half day in class today. You go girl!

Yes, Mark Given, is a great instructor and we are blessed that he remembers us in Carteret County now that he is a national instructor and sought after by many organizations that can populate his classes more heavily.  HOWEVER, isn't that just a great opportunity for agents in Eastern NC to be treated to this higher caliber of programs!
