Addison Pacesetters (the 50+ group) meet the first Wednesay of each month at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse Dunn Bros Coffee, Addisonon Beltline Road and learn about the Town of Addison.  This month, Mr. Chad Hancock, Network Specialist in the IT Department, spoke to us.

Here are some interesting tidbits from his presentation:

Chad has responsibilities for the help desk, PC support, keeping the town's website up and running, the wireless cameras, and the wireless credit card machines at the town's special events (like Taste Addison).

Current projects underway include implementing document management (going paperless) and replacing the 35 servers (happens every 6 years and is a $900,000 project).

There are approximately 180 PCs used by the town and they are replaced every 4 years.

During the question & answer session, Chad answered questions about online forms on the town's website; Addison Perks email messages; and virus and spyware protection.

Next month, May 6th is the first Wednesday.  Come out and join us at Dunn Bros.

Lorrie, That would be a bit far for me to come but it sounds like a good meeting.

It's a great group of people!  If you have to schedule a trip to Dallas, try to plan to be here over the first Wednesday of the month.
