Stage a Star had the privledge of staging a beautiful home this week for one of our top clients.  The house itself has wonderful selling features and is located in a fantastic area for empty nesters and retirees.   The staging challenge was working with grandma's furnishings as much as possible while bringing in some key accessories to blend with the furniture as well as highlight the selling features.

Take a look yourself and see how STAGING can make a remarkable difference in the marketability of a home.

Which set of photos do you think will convince potential buyers to come and take a look and make an offer?

Or This?

Big difference, right?

An experienced Home Stager knows exactly what to take out and add, rearrange and strategically place to best highlight the selling features of a room.    This house doesn't feel dated and worn out anymore.  It feels refreshed and new...ready for its new owners!

Happy Staging!

Is that a freezer in the eating area of the kitchen?! Great transformation using the existing furniture-- what a difference some updated accessories can make! I personally find overcoming the "grannyesque" look to be one of our biggest challenges.

Teresa ~ Looks great! I think I love everything you brought in (or used).  The florals/greenery, pictures - I like it all.  I'll bet the homeowner was amazed!

Teresa ~ BTW, I'm reblogging this.  I'm trying to reblog as many posts on staging as I can to get the word out here in my neck of the woods.  Thanks for making it available as a reblog.

Theresa, I am so proud of you, what a beautifully staged example of using exsiting furnishings and accessorizing with new and fresh pieces.  Outstanding job, good for you.  I like Kathy will re-blog also.  What I like most about this job is it is not a cookie cutter example.  You found a way to work with a lot that was already available.  I am sure they loved the results and it is a greener way to work, so I and the planet say thanks.  I say less IKEA and imorted furniture and reuse better quality from the secondary market.  That is part of my niche here in NH, but I sure wish it would catch on everywhere.  The secondary market is bursting with quality.  Are you feeling my excitement for your work here.  I am trying to learn to express myself more,  ha, ha.  Thanks for the share.  Again, great job!  Karen

Beautiful job! I really like the green sofa in the afters. You also used a effective angle for your photo in the bathroom. Your staging also proves that clean and simple are not always enough when presenting a home. This home was obviously neat as a pin. The the staging added emotion.

You did a great job!  All of the accessories look fresh and add the much-needed warmth to this house.  I especially like the rooster prints over the side table!

Hi Teresa,  I LOVE what you did!  The "after" photos don't even resemble the dated "before" photos.  Everything looks very pulled together now and very fresh and new.  Really wonderful job!

Beeeeautiful job.  It's amazing how you used the same furnishings, but made them look totally different and updated.  In the before photos, I thought that the hunter green draperies definitely needed to go, but in the after you hardly even notice them because of all the pretty accessories and clever arrangement.  Thanks for sharing.  Stagers/staging is invaluable.

Teresa,

Another GREAT transformation! You have wonderfully and strategically placed the furnishings and accessories in this home to make it more appealing to a wide variety of potential buyers.  I'm sure the homeowner and listing agent were very pleased with the end result of your professionally staged home! :)

Teresa ~ Great staging job and wonderful photos too ... this home went from blah and boring to "ready to sell" with your added color touches and better furniture placement.

It looks great! I know "granny" looks are pretty popular with sellers here--but not buyers! I do like the warmer tone of the "after" photos. Was that just a result of time of day, or a deliberate color shift?

Beautiful work!  The repositioning of the green sofa really made the room.  Was granny okay with it?

Hi Linda: Yes, that is a deep freeze in the kitchen...LOL! It was a first for me too.

Kathy: Thanks for Reblogging...hope it helps someone out there to stage. The target buyer is that semi retired to retiree group so using more traditional pieces fit.

Karen: Glad for the re-blog and that you enjoyed the before/after.  Stagers are creative people right? We can work with anything!

Shelley: I really liked the cool retro sofa too. The agent thought I'd slipcover it and I said no way...I love this color and style!

Nancy: I like my rooster prints too. They add alot of warmth and the kitchen was so cold before.

Kathy: I love Picnik...thought it would be fun to try doing before and after's with the collages.

Diana: Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by!

Lori: There were sheers with those hunter green curtains. Those had to go because it was making the home feel very dark.

Michelle: I got really positive feedback from the homeowner and agent. They were thrilled!

Hey Maureen: Good to see you! Let's hope it sells quickly!

Kathi: The before pics were taken with MY camera and the house was actually really dark with the sheers on the windows.  My professional photographer Jenny took the after's and there is no comparision with her camera and talent!

Patsy: Yep, that sofa had to be moved.  The daughter was actually in charge of selling her mom's house and thought it looked like a model home when we were done.

Teresa, I love working with "old lady" furniture because its old, in good condition, and made of real wood.  My house is full of furniture from both my grandmothers.  Pair it, as you did, with updated accessories and ditch the doilies, and you have a spectacular result!

Great job,    rover the doileys and at pillows.   Todays colors and art and the house looks so different.

Its gret to use what they have and avoid the costs of them renting furniture
