If You Flip, You Might Want To Stage

If you are an investors purchasing foreclosures and other types of fixer upper homes, you often want to flip these homes on the retail market for a quick profit. As the real estate market has slowed it has become more difficult to flip these houses quickly. Since staged homes sell for 6.9% more than a non-staged home and sell 50% faster, you should consider having your investment homes staged. This could mean increased profits for you!

Good idea, Teri. A useful statistic, too. I work with some investors who could benefit from staging.

Dang! I'm getting all sorts of good info today. I knew that staged homes typically sell faster than homes with no furniture. I didn't know that the stat was 50% faster. I had no idea that a staged home will sell for 6.9% more than a non-staged home. Armed with that info, why would anyone not stage a home. That makes up for the typical commissions charged by both the staging and real estate agents combined. And it helps remove the anxiety of a home just sitting on the market.

My flipper wouldn't sell homes as fast as he does without me... (of course I remind him of this fact all the time ;). It is funny sometimes that the same house may have been on the market for a year... not sold, owners HAVE to unload it, an Investor/Flipper comes in, Stages it, puts it on auction.... And the house sells for 50K over? Another Staging secret ;0)

Thanks Teri! You are so right, I just got a call from someone yesterday looking to have me stage a vacant home that is being flipped. I love Roger's point-it covers all the costs, why would anyone not do it!?
