The Power of Posting - Norma Toering REMAX Palos Verdes

Blogging for business is why most of the Active Rain members are here, but the side benefits are perhaps even more powerful.  To be honest, I did not feel the need to begin blogging when my son suggested it two years ago.  I was too busy selling real estate to write stories about it on the Internet.  I had lots of questions such as who would find my posts and how on earth would that help my business?

I have a closet full of tapes and books purchased to ignite my real estate career, and I've paid thousands of dollars to attend seminars from Buffini to Ferry.  They were good, but Active Rain is a revolution in the making.  It is defeating to be on the wrong side of an industry revolution. I'm pleased to be lined up with the trendsetters on the cutting edge.

2008 was a pivotal year for our country.  It was truly a year that tried the souls of men as our forefather, Thomas Paine, penned while a soldier in George Washington's army:

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands now, deserves the thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated."

Tough times either take you down or make you stronger. The sunshine agents are gone, but those standing are determined to fight the good fight and work through the difficult times. Active Rain is filled with an army of such agents. We are wise enough to know it will not be easily conquered, and are willing to work toward a triumph that will be glorious.

Sharing our triumphs and our failures on this platform adds to our collective community strength.  Education, camaraderie and positive feedback lend emotional and professional support.  The strength of the tribe empowers each member.  One individual post has a small voice, one million posts create a powerful force.  Post on!

I wonder how much further ahead I would be if I had kept at it in March 2007 when I first joined ActiveRain rather than taking a 17-month sabbatical.
