You hear this chatter around the water cooler all of the time in 2009:

I really only have one response right now: "WHO CARES! Take control and change your attitude!"
Look, I do not want you to think that I am taking any of this lightly, i am not. The reality is that we can not change the world until we take care of business on the home-front!
Since we can not control what is going on with the national economy, the time has come to take a step back, focus on the positive, and look for the small things we can do, and they will eventually add up to the big change we desire.
So what do you control? Your Attitude!
This is probably one of the easiest things we have power over, but we always seem to let it get the best of us.

You just started your day off in the worst possible way! The tone is set, and now you must find a way to climb the mountain just to get back to being indifferent! Before you know it, the time is 1:00 p.m. and your day is half shot!
Wake up, grab that coffee, ignore the media, get on the phone, shake some hands, and share your passion for the business with everybody you come in contact with! If you are not starting your day like this, you ARE NOT reaching your potential!
Sure, people in the office might think you are a crazy animal, but until they start magically making deposits into your account, it doesn't matter?
The fact is that being negative is easy, so darn easy, and finding excuses as to why you are not succeeding is even easier.
I can not recall the speaker to give him credit for this, but this statement changed my life:
"If the biggest challenge you want to face in life is 'Cans on the bottom, bread on the top', then go work at a grocery store and get paid accordingly!
What an eye opener!
Stop focusing on the excuses and put all of your efforts into the solutions!
I have learned that It takes time, persistence, and passion to get positive, and stay positive. If you are caught in the trap, take control of it! The only person who can change your attitude is YOU!
One of the keys for me is to make sure that I am surrounded by the right people, the folks who share my mindset and make business happen!
This is the exact thing that attracted me to the AR community. What a great place to network, share ideas, and build valuable relationships! The first few years of my career, I would have looked at all of you as the enemy, the evil Realtor competitor. Then I took that step back and asked myself, "What value does that attitude bring me?" The answer was......NONE!
Since my enlightenment, I have worked very hard to offer helpful advice to anyone in the business who wants it. I feel that if I can help one person answer their phone, motivate them to make a sale, and/or add value to this industry, I have made my small difference that will create the foundation for bigger change.
