Actions and Filters for Photoshop Image Manipulation

'Actions' in Photoshop are a series of steps used to create a particular effect, and saved to be used again and again. They can be as simple as changing a photo from color to black and white, or as complex as some you see below. You can create your own actions, or make use of the hundreds, if not thousands, of actions available FREE on the web. 'Filters' are mostly stand alone 'mini' programs you can load into Photoshop to create a variety of effects. Here are a couple of links to some great action resources:

Ultimate Collection of Useful Photoshop Actions

Action Central

And filter resources:

Plug-ins World.com

720 Free Photoshop plug-ins and filters

(Not all are what they're cracked up to be, so you need to download, try it, and determine for yourself which are most useful).

To download your actions or filter folders in Photoshop:

Download the zipped file and save to your desktop. Open your actions or filters folder in Photoshop, then open the zipped file, and drag and drop it into the appropriate folder in Photoshop. The next time you open Photoshop, the action or filter will be there.

You can run more than one action, or more than one filter on a photo for even more interesting effects.

Here are a few of the photos I've played with recently.

Debi, the second one looks likes a watercolor painting or like Toula said like a batik.  It's amazing what you can do especially if you know how to work the software!  Thanks for sharing your work!

Morning Ladies:  I would have found it eventually....trust me ;-)  I'm doing Market Reports...not quite as much fun as you're having, OBVIOUSLY!!!  Debou these are sensational.  The first one does look like fabric, the next 2 look like oil paintings, the last one leaves me speechless with it's beauty.

I'm literally praying I never see Jerry Garcia in the swamp....for I'll know I died and didn't go to heaven.....wonder if FH will have nightmares over this gator....ROTFLMHO

You're the best, and I've bookmarked this for proper perusal!

So glad you enjoyed Jerry Lewis-Garcia, Ms LB! You can thank Ms FH for the inspiration! LOL Don't think you'll find him in the swamp...he's the thing of nightmares, not reality!- (The reality is bad enough!)

Debi- I have used these tools on house photos before to make an 8 x 10 to matt and frame for the buyers.  Makes quite a unique gift for buyers.  I love the second photo by the way and have never seen one look like that before.  Beautiful.
