Sell Your New Hampshire Home By Thinking Like A New York Advertiser

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

If you want to sell your New Hampshire home, you need to think like a New York ad executive.

Advertisers spend a lot of time, effort, and money making sure that their product will be the one that consumers choose to purchase.

Every image, color and font is chosen specifically and strategically to be attractive to buyers and to insure that their product stands out amongst the competition.

It's really no different when selling your house. Isn't that your ultimate goal?

You want buyers who are looking through the MLS to stop on your listing and say "I want to see this house."

You want buyers, after a day of viewing properties, to remember your house as their favorite.

Home staging is like hiring an advertising executive...

a professional who knows just what colors and features will be most attractive to your market.

A professional who can help you make your house stand out from the rest.

Hi Sharon.

I do agree with you that staggers are indeed trained, skilled and needed.  With so many trying so hard to get the consumr and R E profession to except the benefits available to them and having them embrace more of what is offered maybe means speaking simpler and less of big city comparisons.  People who live in the country are less impressed with big things, even when the example is true.  People in rural areas choose to live in them and take life slower and less complicated, they live simple, some preferring commonsense more than fact.  I believe we may be able to reach out and be heard best by and through a social event, such as the ones I am hostng.  It is making a difference.  Sometime seeing is believing.  It is enticing them to reach out, I am on my fourth referral in 19 days.  I am not disputing your analogy, just adding another thought as an idea for trying to reach our new england consumers.  I welcome your thoughts back on this.  A friend in NH.

Sharon ~ I understand your analogy and think it's very true!  Regardless of the market area, it's a universal fact that we need to determine our target market and sell to it.  Everyone responds to the right message and your post pointed that out well.  It doesn't mean that you have to hard sell or anything when in a more rural environment ... your post was spot on in that you adjust to your own local market that you know, and make your message about home staging relevant.

Karen:  I agree that people respond differently to marketing depending on their location.  Country folk don't want to be sold to by the city slicker.  My point is more in comparing a stagers role to that of a marketer.  Using the preparation of the home as a way to capture the attention of the potential buyers of their market.

Maureen:  Thanks for the wonderful summary!  Once they understand the concept of staging as marketing, sellers will be more receptive.

Virginia:  Thanks!  I'm blown away that you are blown away!  I first put 4 "bad mls" shots together in a Collage, using Picnik.  Saved it.  Opened it in Photoshop and added the "good" picture on top.  I then followed Mike Mueller's advice on how to make the good photo pop out by making the bad ones blurry.  I'll post more specific directions, it could be useful info to others.  Thanks.
