If we put a sign out, would they come?

This time of year is tough. The clock is running down on season, and the hot summer months are approaching.

Traditionally, April allows us only 3 weeks for Open Houses for couple reasons.

The first: We ourselves have designated this weekend to family, telling ourselves, and our clients with vacant homes, "It's Easter weekend. No one is looking at Open Houses."

The second: No matter our religion or beliefs, we respect and recognize the holy day, and possibly think it's in bad taste to try to sell a home on Easter.

I myself can't help but wonder if Easter Sunday isn't possibly the best day to hold an Open House?

Christmas and Easter are the most heavily attended church sermons of the year. People are gathering with their family, traveling and getting out of the house together.

For young couples, seasonal buyers, and investors alike, if they are out with the family - a Sunday drive might bring them right to you?

I'm not suggesting we all run out and work an Open House instead of attending Church or enjoying Easter Dinner with our family.......

I am merely pondering whether or not- if we put a sign in the yard on Easter, would they come?

The only way to know the answer is to actually hold an Open House oN Easter Sunday.
Let us know how it goes.  :-)

Happy Easter Burish & Serena!  We have asked ourselves the very same question.  Our thoughts are the same as yours and in the past would not even consider an open house.  But as you said this year is tough.  Also "times are a changin'",  sacred days don't seem to be observed the same in our opinion.  It seems like yes, families will attend the services and will have dinner or lunch together and then it is back to the usual routine.  It doesn't seem to be an all day or weekend event anymore. In the past we always wondered which day was observed more, Good Friday or Easter Sunday.  That being said, if we "open the doors" on Easter Sunday will we also be opening the doors when Christmas falls on a Sunday?

Probably they would come if you put up the sign, but do you or we really want to? Mmm

You guys are trying to start a riot aren't you.;)  I will throw in my opinion just to get it going.

Yes, some probably would come.  But the more important question we should be asking is "Should we put up an open house sign on Easter Sunday?"  There are so many people who would think it a bit strange that it might actually be counter productive.  I would rather not engage in some form of real estate solicitation on that particular day.  I would suggest that it is better to try and do the right thing rather than just what might work.  There are still lots of days left to do open houses....if thats what you want to do.

Very interesting thoughts. I tend to agree with your evolving thought process. The best times for open houses are after a popular day at church. Easter is certainly one of those occassions. I believe an Easter Open House might be just the thing!

Another opinion....My preference would be not to work that day. Easter is a wonderful time to honor our Lord and enjoy the day with family. That's what it is all about. I know if you give that time/day to the Lord he will make sure you have an awesome open house on another day. Just ask him.....

I think it completely depends on the person selling the house. Yes, I know there are groups of people out there that WILL come to an open house, because they don't go to church or have different beliefs. I agree that the more important question is SHOULD you have the open house. That answer is an individual question each of us has to answer ourselves. I normally work on Sundays in a model home, but I will be closed Easter Sunday.

For several years in a row I put the sign out on Easter Sunday but they didn't come. Now I use the day for some much needed rest and relaxation.

Happy Easter.
