Many homes have an oddity that keeps them listed longer than normal.  Usually it's the condition.  Are any of these surprises in your home -- bold colors -- dated wallpaper -- 20-year or older kitchens -- dark paneling -- shag carpeting -- slate entryways -- walls covered in burlap?  These things can prevent a quick sale.

One home I showed recently had something I've never seen before. . .the family room floor was red brick!  Full size bricks too.  The listing had boasted about the updated kitchen, baths and carpeting and the photos made the home look very nice. . .but a brick floor?  No wonder this one's been on the market nearly 2 years!

I can honestly say that I have not seen that before. what a choice for flooring? How old is that house?

I've actually seen townhouses where almost everything (not the floor) was paneled.  Not the cheesy paneling you see in some rec rooms but nice wood with exposed beams and the whole nine yards.  It might have been nice in a larger home or in a different area but it was just so out of place in this one townhouse in a very moderate income area.

I've never seen a brick floor but I'm wondering why the Sellers don't just replace the flooring or why Buyers can't see the potential to re-floor or re-cover it?  Or maybe paint a path yellow and then put a mural of Emerald City on the wall?  Where's their imaginations?  :-)

Happy Easter!

Benita -- the house was between 25 and 30 years old.  I know , the brick makes you think it was built during Colonial times, LOL.

Ken -- One quick fix for the dark panelling is white/offwhite paint.  It takes 3 solid coats, but wow, what a difference!  The brick floor was not exactly level either, a bit like a poorly set brick patio would be.  I think that room had been a garage at one time.  Whole thing made me wonder how many bodies were buried beneath (lol)!
