Climbing Google with Karen

By
Real Estate Agent with Bridge Realty - Mankato

I'm sure you know of Karen George, a delightful AR poster and SEO specialist.  She wrote a couple of blog entries about tags for blogs.  Here they are:  Part one, and part two.

These seem like very good ideas to me, but a question raised in one of the comments to these posts was never answered that I could see:  is there some way to delete tags from the tags list here on activerain?

I made the same mistake Karen did, and would like to edit down my list of tags... can I do so?

Your replies are appreciated.

By the way, Karen George's blog is a serious resource.  If you haven't already taken a look, you should.  She has lots of SEO tips I have never seen before (although I'm not an expert by any means), and she wrote wonderfully.

Jim.  When I started posting to ActiveRain, I included way, way, way too many tags.  For some reason, I wrongly believed that the "tags" were like alt tags and would help with SEO.  Not so, I discovered at least not directly.

So, I needed to reduce the number of tags on my blog and the only way I could figure to do it was

1.  Go to the tag list, click on a tag that you wanted to dump.  That will bring up a page with all the articles containing that tag.

2.  Then you have to go to each blog post and edit the tags to delete the tags you want to dump.

It's very time consuming.  I paid my VA to do a bunch of them some time back.  Now, I'm just careful not to include too many tags on a post.

If there is a short cut to dumping tags, post about it.  I'm sure we're not the only ones who would like to know.

Jim, I think Lenn explained it very well. As far as I know there are no short cuts.

Lenn and everyone,

Thanks for the tips.  I guess it's time to knuckle down and get it done, now that I know how to do it!
