I am cleaning the Localism Brainstorming group up a bit.  Many posts are not relevant to the group purpose, which is to discuss ways to effectively use localism.com

I do not wish to offend anyone, just to help keep us focussed.  If I delete your post, I will post a link to it here, so that those in this group can still check it out if they are inclined to.

I appreciate all the great posts you all have wrtitten.  Please don't interpret a blog being "removed" meaning I didn't like your post, your style, or you.    I will try to comment on each post, as well, but it is very time consuming, so forgive me in advance if I miss something.

Hi Rich - is the description of that group changing?   Is Sarah still running this group or did she step back from it?

Thanks,
Ann

Sara was overwhelmed, and has enlisted my aid, as well as Jason Price to serve as moderators.

The mission of the group has always been for the "exchange of ideas for posts to Localism.com."

Some posts just haven't been on topic.

Some posts that are actual local content will remain as prime examples of quality uses of localism, but not everypost that goes to localism needs to be here.  This is more for the discussion of what to post not the posts themselves.  For that, there is the Posts to Localism group.  For topics about how to improve localism itself -- the site, not the content -- there is the Localism Beta group.

Sarah is STILL overwhelmed!!  Thank you, Rich (and Jason!) for helping out.  You are a knight in shining armor!!  Most of the posts I've removed have been my own.  It's hard to delete someone else's work.  Please everyone, if you notice a post of yours is gone, don't hold it against us!

Rich, one of the toughest things a moderator must do.  But it is needed, you are doing the right thing!

Thanks, David, I appreciate it.  I really don't like deleting peoples posts.  It feels wrong, some how, which is why I decided to post the links here.  At least I am not completely denying the authors a chance to be in front of their audience.

Marketing a home can be difficult.  Marketing a blog, because it is a relatively new concept for most, is even more difficult.

Kris -- I hope you are joking.  Don't be afraid to post.  Even if I do "sweep it up" it will still be visible on Active Rain, and I will put the link to it here, so it wont be completely cut off from the group, either.

Hi Rich,
I think cleaning up is a great idea.  Going into some of the groups because of their discription is disappointing because I don't see what one would expect to read inrelationship to their title.

If I do a post on a local event in my area, will it appear on the Localism site for that local area?

Pat -- if you categorize your post "for consumers" it will appear on localism.com

Just make just you use the correct categories, and select the state, county, and municipality as appropriate for your event.

Arina -- The Localism Brainstorming group is essentially for discussions about how to use localism.com to help grow your business.

Everyone else -- I have been very busy lately, and have fallen behind in my tasks as moderator.  I expect to pick up the pace here soon. Bear with me, please.

I'm glad to see you will be removing posts that would be better located in Post to Localism.

Now I think I understand what this group is about.

Rich - So lets get this straight... Posting our Localism content here is Bad. Posting Ideas for Localism is Good.

I've noticed that many groups are overwhelmed with non-relevant posts. Keep on moderating.

Great discussion!  It helps everyone, especially all of us who are new to AR to revisit the rules and guidelines.  Thank you to Sarah, Rich and Jason for moderating, it must be a monumental task.

Helps us all stay on topic only. I belong to a few groups now & wonder why people post nonsense & include it in a group with no relevance. Thank you for taking the time.

I wish AR would group "the groups" by subject or relevance so they would be easier to go thru.

Rich - Thanks for taking the time to clean up the posts.  It's helpful to have the guidelines set up right from the start, as you've been doing.  I appreciate the task oriented perspective.  I've been using localism to post lisings, community information, and some really neat photos I took on a beautiful sunny day that just happened to have some fresh fallen snow.  We're in a relatively small town - I'm not sure where buyers go for their information, but I'm hoping they'll find http://www.localism.com.

Hi Rich. Sometimes I'm searching for specific info but can't find it under the tons of mis-categorized posts. Glad to see you're cleaning house.

Rich-I think you are doing the right thing by cleaning house....while you are at it, come to Huntsville and clean my house for me, lol.  Seriously though, I"m a fairly new "rainer" and do get confused. I read the rules to each group and then can't remember when posting.  I'm certainly never going to be offended! Keep up the good work.  Elizabeth   www.Huntsville-Realestate.net

this is a very good idea...I find myself less interested in many of the posts I read because they do not seem to pertain.

Cleaning up the posts might hurt a few feelings, but the overall benefit is there for sure.  When I scroll through a group I like to see the most relevant articles possible.  I get distracted easily and if looks like the group is too convuluted i move on.

Thanks for doing this messy task.
