Jeff and Heather, yes, there are products on the market that do work. I've never had the need to use them, but I know others who have.

The photos are astounding. I would worry if it will last and if there is any hazardous stuff in the residue.

Our products are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

That sounds good. I need this for my house but do they have dealers near me? I live in Wisconsin.

I have found similar products in the roofing section of Home Depot and Lowes Home Improvement.  I will say it is a better alternative to what some people ask me about.  Years ago I had with the space of two months three seperate investors (not mine) that have asked "what paint should I use on a roof?"   Yes they actually thought they could just paint the roof to change the color and freshen it up.  They did not really like my answer though.

Jeff and Heather, That's pretty good.  I just saw a local commercial recently for just that.  I wonder what the typical charge is?

The Roof Shampoo Dealers are by far the best in the industry.Their cleaners are safe and effective.the equipment used to remove the algae is state of the art, specially calibrated to do no harm to the roof. This process is great for everyone who has an infected roof.Great for curb appeal. The cost is a fraction of what it would cost to replace the roof.win win

Jeff and Heather,

That seems pretty reasonable on the price.  Now, did you have it done, and how did it come out?

I concur with Mr. Booz.

Additionally, do you know who one of the largest users of clhorinated bleach are? They are municipalities. They add clhorinated bleach to our water supplies to keep us safe from bacteria that may otherwise make us ill, or worse.

Did anyone watch the video in the first link of the article above? Those people are using a concrete cleaning machine to clean shingles on a roof! That's akin to using a lawnmower to trim a shag rug, when they were popular.

Handled properly, bleach is a safe product. Just ask whoever washes the white cloths for your family or keeps the family swimming pool clean and bacteria free.

I think the jury is no longer out on this one. It is clear that having chlorine-bleach sprayed on a roof is dangerous to humans, pets, and landscaping. It's common sense backed up by plenty of hard evidence. As far as Roof Shampoo, I have 2 friends that used their service and I have recommended them to several of my clients. The results have been nothing short of amazing. Like night and day. It makes a roof look new.   They use an extremely low pressure. The techinician even held his hand under the spray to prove it. It's similar to rain. It absolutely did not damage any shingles. They saved the shingles from the damage being caused by the algae and moss. And the products they use for the roof cleaning are eco-friendly. It doesn't harm the landscaping at all.  I recently went to their website at www.roofshampoo.com and can see that they have roof shampoo contractors in 21 states. Truthfully, I would be afraid to take the risk of hiring or recommending anyone else. The roof shampoo seems to be tried and true, why risk something else you're not sure about.
