You just can't trust anyone these days! Just a bunch of jacklegs working at those Jiffy-Lubes. I think from now on I will just kick back here and keep my eye on them while they try to rip me off!

I have seen that before. Isn't that a shame that so much of that is going on?

I have to tell you that I absolutely LOVE that baby pic! That picture is priceless!!

There is probably the same number of bad mechanics as there are bad agents. When the media needs to create buzz they go after us, or mechanics. In automotive you will find various levels of competence, but it is rare to find outright fraud.

Lizette - I know what you mean. Next time they pop my hood, I'm standing right there to see what actually gets done. This kinda stuff just yanks my chain. Why can't people just be trustworthy anymore? It's sad!!

Edith - this photo symbolizes my emotions after watching that clip. Man, I was angry! I just had my car oil changed at this place not 2 1/2 months ago. Still have the sticker in my window for the next date.....TO GET RIPPED OFF!!

Hey Jim, next time, I'm going to put this video clip on my Ipod, then I'll play it for the mechanic before I ask for an oil change!  I bet ya he doesn't try to sell me any additional parts or service.  Now I know why they tell you that you have to wait in the vehicle or in the lobby.  I know that not all mechanics are this bad, but 5 out of 8 (I think it was) were not very honest. I know the media can control certain things, and put twists and angles on topics, but this one I'm afraid is all too common and not just at Jiffy Lube!!

What a wake up call this was for me and my family!!

Rich - LOL! I believe that's not a lube job, it's baby oil! (he he)

I wonder how these people sleep at night or look at themselves in the mirror!! ...and I thought I couldn't trust the dealer at Nssan, now I don't know who I can trust!

Do you think Doctors and Dentists do this kinda crap? What about restaurants, and retail service centers.
Hmmmm....it really makes me wonder now...

I admit that I don't know a thing about cars.  That's why I found a mechanic who has his own shop and has proven himself trustworthy.  A good mechanic is as valuable as a good doctor or real estate agent =)  Thanks for the post Brad.  It's always amazing to watch the bad guys get busted.

Hey Brad,I guess that's what you call, getting greased . LOL. No, but really, it's not funny. They need to be fined or something worse for that.

I know, I know, I'm back again, but just thought of something......they need somesort of CODE OF ETHICS to follow, in that business! Anybody with me on this one??;)

Maggie - finding a good mechanic that is honest, trustworthy and loyal is hard to do. That is why I have created a referral network, so friends like you could share these referrals with people that are looking in their areas. It's a blog for our Solano area, I just started it a few weeks back. Sure wish you were in my area, I'd ask you to add your mechanic. Thanks for always commenting on my blog Maggie, you are so loyal and trustworthy....thanks!!

Edith - you bring up an excellent and interesting point.  Is Jiffy Lube accountable to anyone?  Shouldn't they be fined, or loose their license for this? Who steps in besides the consumer and attorneys to stop these kinds of crimes. What good is the BBB if this kind of stuff is going on and it continues. Just because the news network busted them, I didn't see anything about what was going to be done to correct it other than giving the news network back their money. What should be done? I know I will not use Jiffy Lube ever again, but is that enough?

Lizette - OUCH!!  (smile) No it is not...I was a much uglier baby   :-)

Honestly , I don't know what BBB is good for except as a mediator, basically.

I had to call them once, over a situation at a pet store where the owner wouldn't let my husband and I  see a dog we were intersested in buying. To make a long story short, I called the bbb to file a complaint and they asked me exactly what I wanted them to do about it. Of course I just wanted an apology, but they said they would send a letter to him asking him what his side was.

I never did find out what the end result was of it. Of course, there was a little more detail to it than just that he wouldn't let us see the dog but a long story . Just know that a few months later his store wasn't in the mall any longer.

BBB is pretty much a mediator and nothing more. They only try to settle disputes between consumers and business owners. ( from my experience anyway)

I do believe, however, that there should be some kind of code of ethics for people like Jiffy Lube or hypocratic oath, what have you. :) Something to at least hold them accountable for what they do,so it would lessen the probability of it happing again. Sorry so long, I'm shutting up now. LOL!

Edith, thanks for your comment. I think the BBB is just there to report the companies that screw people over, but they don't have any kind of enforcement. It's like when my older brothers use to pick on me as a kid, All mom and dad would do is say, "Oh, I'm sorry hun, that's too bad!" Kinda like the BBB does.

I agree, there needs to be someone that holds these types of companies accountable. They are not above the law! In this case, it seems they are...

Maggie - I can be offensive too...(Big Smile) just kidding.  I am candid and do speak what's on my mind often.  I have learned to communicate so much better over the last 20 years, but more importantly, I have learned to be honest. I really meant the things I said on your post earlier. You've got the power, now just have the will! Thank you for reading my blog and for flattering me with your kind words. I enjoy our chats and reading your blog too...as long as you keep blogging, I'll keep reading.  :-)
