Between March 31 and April 7, according to Hawaii Information Services, 16 properties closed escrow on Kauai. And, escrow was opened on 24 properties that received accepted offers. For the week before, March 23 and March 30th Hawaii Information Services reported 17 properties closed escrow on Kauai and 11 properties received accepted offers and opened escrow.

While I can’t predict the future (many prospective buyers and sellers wish I could), I’d like to think that this spike in activity on the Garden Island may be an optimistic sign. Interest rates are still at historic lows and there is plenty of inventory to choose from. Not to mention, there's the first-time homebuyers credit (up to $8000) which serves as a good incentive for those that qualify.

While Hawaii doesn’t have as many foreclosures as some states on the mainland, many of you ask about what’s available.
