Rogue Valley Pear Orchard by Camra_ Art photo courtesy of flickr.comHere comes one of our favorite local Springtime events here in the Rogue Valley! It's Pear Blossom Parade and Run time! Time to park the car and hike the few blocks over to our favorite spot on Central Avenue to see the parade, than walk over to Alba Park to see what we can find at the booths at the street fair. It's a great way to run in to familiar faces and have a fun time. And this year, we get to just enjoy it, not having the drop off and pickup duties we've had in years past with children in the parade. Look for me, the one who is parked in the best viewing spot with no intention of getting up for the 2 1/2 hours the parade will run.

Karen,

The photos are exceptional!  What a great parade; I'm looking forward to more photos of the parade itself.

Karen - Sounds like a great event.  I grew up in Beaverton, OR, but never heard of the Pear Blossom Parade and Run.  I am running next week in the Pat Tillman Run.  I have never ran in a running event before.

Hi Thesa - We had a lot of fun, and we bumped in to friends again. As big as Medford is now, it still is very "small town".

Hi Mike & Sharon- those photos were courtesy of flickr.com, as we don't always get ideal light on parade day! Sometimes it rains, some times it snows! Saturday was cool and cloudy, but dry!

Hi Troy - The schools usually turn out in force for the Mayor's Cup race, a 1k that is perfect for little legs (and almost 50 year old knees that have seen some steep inclines and moguls in their day!), plus the competitive races. Always a popular, and usually sold out, race event, with people traveling from many different areas. Maybe next year you'll find you want to give it a try!

Thank you all for your comments.
