Are there really agents out there who still don't know what Home staging is??

Home Stager with Stage it First

Ok I'm such a newbie! I found a quote that I wanted to use from a post that Christi Avila commented on regarding Agents not knowing about Home Stagers and now I can't find it. That's what I meant in my blog " Blogging makes my head hurt. Does yours hurt too?"

Well anyway, I digress. What I wanted to find out about is the number of Real Estate Agents out there that aren't aware of Home Staging.

When I read the blog comments I was shocked! Is it true that with all the hype about Home Staging and Stagers that there are still some Realtors out there that don't know what Home Staging is? I thought that most Agents have at least heard about the benefits of staging a home to prepare it for sale.

Christi Avila commented (somewhere) hehe, that she had only just found out about Home Staging and how a Home Stager can transform a home before putting it on the market.

My question to all you Agents out there is...When did you find out about staging? Have you ever used the services of a Home Stager? What are you experiences? If you have used a Home Stager and you have a story to share (good or bad) Please share it with us.

We need to educate the masses about the benefits of staging their homes before they call in a Real Estate Agent.

Agents: Wouldn't  you love to have all your listings 'show ready'? Hire a Stager. Talk to your clients about staging. Let's educate everyone. It will be of benefit to us all.

If you don't know about home staging (I find that hard to believe on AR) check out my blog on "Staging, the new buzz word"

I would love to stage all my listings. My clients on the other hand don't see the benefit of staging. I think at this point the home owners need to be educated on the benefits to staging their home. I actually got a listing this year because the other agent insisted they had to stage their home and they absolutely refused to. So even though staging might have helped I wasn't going to force the issue. Also I don't think most homeowners understand what staging is. Now this is talking from my area only other areas may be different.

Patricia: You are right. Canada as a whole is behind the times when it comes to home staging. In my area, (30 minutes north of Toronto) there are even less people who know about staging. I was just really surprised that Agents don't know what staging is. Hopefully we can all do our part to educate Agents and Homeowners alike.

Ashley: I am trying to educate the people where I live. It's not an easy road to travel but I'll soldier on....lol

Good post and I agree there are some places so far behind and I live in one of those. Realtors as a whole here don't even want to discuss what its about and say the places sell anyway.,,,I am educating slowly and hoping someday it takes off BIG TIME.

Kathy,

You aren't alone. New England is notoriously hard to convince about just about everything. I have lived IN N/E all my life so  I just keep plugging away at it.

Today I went to an open house and met a wonderful lady how has a huge burden. The house was so full of " things" that you couldn't see the walls, floors, anything. But I think I made headway. I am going to talk to the broker she works with on Tuesday, at his request, cross you fingers for me.

I believe that staging is a great benefit to the Real Estate community and eventually they will catch on that they need to leave the hard stuff to us, those of us how love what we do.

Just as a foot note, there are hundreds of agents and brokers in Connecticut, and only a hand ful that have taken the time to benefit thier business by joining A/R. So I am climbing a hill on 2 fronts. Wish me luck!!!

Good Luck Kathy, I have invited several agents in my area to AR and they haven't bothered to join. What a shame. It's such a great learning place and a place to come for support. I am so glad I joined. I wish people would just give AR a try...same for staging.

Real Estate Website Optimization

Kathy,

I know what you mean, I was recently hired by a home staging company (Nuances, LLC hired us about a month ago) on Cape Cod, MA to optimize their website for Cape Cod Home Staging - and it is amazing how many agents do not really know what home staging is.  We are working on several marketing initiatives to continue to spread the word.

In the meantime I wanted to share with you some of the results I have managed to deliver for them:

Google #2 organic

Yahoo #2 organic

And we still have not loaded many new additions to the website that should easily put them into the number one position (within 2 months from not even being on the map).

Since I manage many real estate websites I have begun to build in sections on the real estate websites to feature a section to also educate the general public.

We are always interested in reciprocal link exchange with other home stagers (not in the same geography) as it will benefit us all - please let me know if you are interested in participating.

Thanks - Michael

Home Staging has not really caught on here yet, Kathy. In fact until a couple of years ago, no one had heard of it !  It is starting to pick up now and a few realtors at my office have their staging certificates hence do staging as a sideline.  I have had a few clients who 'staged' their own homes (actually they were just superb decorators and had excellent taste ) and their properties literally sold themselves !  It is wonderful to list those kinds of homes...
