ElkHave you ever had one of those wacky days when nothing seems to go right?  I don't mean one or two things going wrong I mean a day where your chain is 1/2 a cog off the link.

My day started out great. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny.  I even woke up with plenty of time to get ready for my showings.  Like always I stopped at the computer, check a few emails, answered the best ones and took off for the office.

WITHOUT my phone!!!

Of course I didn't realize at the time I left WITHOUT my phone.  Had I figured it out BEFORE I drove 7 miles, I would have turned around to get my PHONE!  Instead I wasted valued phone retrival time getting a Chai and chatting with some neighbors.

At the office the clock told me I had 12 minutes to spare before my clients arrived, I realized my phone was at home.  grrrrrrr!

Decisions, decisions do I make my clients wait? Or do I rough it?

I hate to wait so I figured I'd rough it.  How often do we really, truly need a phone.  hahaha

The first showing was awful. Dirty, overpriced and vacant.  Just to be sure we really hated everything about it, I ventured outside to the back yard, my client following me.

That's when we both saw the TWO big black dogs, coming toward us. My client jumped two feet into the air, scaring the dickens out of me, who immediately did the same. I ran back into the house, only I slipped on the slimmy floor, landing completely flat.

OUCH! silently said my brain, while trying to look ok.  Ouch, crap my khakis are now stained from the slimmy floor. Lucky for me my clients are cool and didn't think having a Realtor on the floor was the least little strange.

We decided that house was a no go.

Next we on tour was a home where the tenants locked the deadbolt. We couldn't get in.  #3 was a contender (my luck is changing).  #4 we never found.  We have a theory since the neighbor was having an open house they removed the sign.  The unit number didn't match the MLS so maybe when the place has been on another 365 days the listing agent will check his work...(read sarcasm here)

#5 is better than #3 but only in his mind not hers.  Oh well they have time to work that out, they aren't married yet. I wonder who will win.

Done with clients.

Off to Cherry Creek Farmers' Market.  Everyone is closing down. Darn, too late.

Go home to plant my flowers.  Just when I get half way done, it starts to rain.  Did you know that potting soil turns to mud in the rain?  Oh well.

It's been an Elk of a day.  Looking forward to tomorrow.

Well it's only 10;15 here but it feels like four in the morning. After a day like that I can't believe you are up bloging away. I guess you have to relax some how.

My goodness!  I hope your day goes better tomorrow, and the next, and the next...etc, anyway you get the point.
Your story about the dogs reminded me of an eviction my dad and I once did.  It was a lease option, needless to say they never purchased, just stopped paying the lease for at least 6 months.  We had to go to court twice before we were able to pursue the actual eviction.  This was my very first eviction that I had to "attend", ask my dad - learning purposes???  So we meet for a cup of coffee right before and I ask him how this usually goes and what to expect.  He has done so many, if anybody would know he would.  So he jokingly said, "Well, there is probably going to be some type of shootout, you just never know......."

What????????

In any case, a rep from the Constable's office was with us, our handy man to change the locks right then and there, my dad and I show up at the property.  We always try to cause the least amount of damage, so may we suggest going around back perhaps to check if a door might be luckily for us unlocked???
Picture this:  the 4 of us in a little line, my dad up front ( he is in his 60's), the Constable dude, me and Mike, our handyman behind me.  Now, this is a 1/2 acre property, and the yard wraps all the way around the home.  Little did we know there were 3 pitbulls, raging mad, hungry, stressed out, left behind by the tenants.  They had been hanging out in the part where the yard wraps around. :)

All I remember is the Constable yelling "get the "you know what" out!!!!!!!!! I did not see the dogs yet at this time, there was no barking, just a lot of commotion in front of me.  Guess what I was thinking?  Yep, must be that shootout my dad mentioned earlier!  I kid you not.  I don't think I have ever run so fast in my life!

It all ended peacefully, we did not get bitten, surprisingly enough, and Animal Control picked up the poor dogs.

And there was no slippery dirty floor for me to fall on!

It's days like this that make us appreciate all the others.  Isn't it odd, though how some days just seem to be jinxed?  Must be a biorythym thing.

Kristal-I love your sense of humor and timing.  And, now I will have to admire you for your grace.  Sliding down to make khaki contact with a grimey floor, then jumping right back up!  Kind of reminds you of the old acts on the Sullivan Show.  When an acrobat fell, he just jumped right back into the routine like nothing had happened, performed the next death defying stunt and waiting with arms outstretched waiting for the TADAH and thunderous applause.

Your clients probably didn't give you even a polite little clap.  So, here's your well deserved....

APPLAUSE!     APPLAUSE!     APPLAUSE!

Krystal,

That was hilarious. Except for the falling, the dogs, the deadbolt, the market and the home you never found! Well, at least you made it home to the phone. Atta Girl.

If I forget my phone, I feel like I am out of sync the rest of the day.  I wonder how I got along before cell phones?

I just read Maggie's "Horse in Traffic" post and now your elk of a Day, must be something in the air this weekend!!  You gave me a good laugh, sorry about your pants.  ;o)  I'm betting she'll win.  "She" almost always does in house shopping, I've learned.

I hate Forgotten Phone Days.  Feels like I'm missing an arm or something.

I'm in stitches.

But, knowing Kristal, I'm sure she laughted her way through the day, just like I laughed my way through her essay about her day.

Keep up the good work and keep me laughing.

janeAnne ~ glad to make you smile. My today is going to be an improvement for sure!

Mana ~ Blogging is an outlet for sure.   Sometimes it helps to write and laugh at yourself.  I know I crack myself up all the time!

Eveline ~ nothing like a rush of adrenline to quick start your walk!  I can't imagine how the rush of 4 people flying through the air must have been!  Glad the dogs didn't get you.  How sad for them!  I hate when people mistreat poor animals...

Carol ~ I truly think not having my phone put me off balance all day.

Marlene ~ Thanks for helping me spell Khaki.  Last night I just couldn't come up with the proper spelling and quite frankly didn't care!  Now it's fixed thanks to you. Thanks for tha applause...I need that!

Bob ~ Why is it Superman can leap tall buildings with one bound and I can't even FIND one little condo?

Cyndee ~ Hope you didn't suffer any Realtor nightmares!  I'm up today and nothing is hurting (more than ordinary) nor is anything a different shade of pale (yet)!

Randy ~ Good question. I have no idea.

Sarah ~ Funny you should mention "missing an arm." I almost blogged about the phone being an apendage!

Debbie ~ Glad to make you and other laugh, all was not lost if I can entertain!  :)

I do understand and can relate. It's really bad when you leave to go to the bank and forget your wallet, go back and get it.  Get to the bank and forget your checkbook and go back and get it and 1/2 of the day is gone

OK, I admit it, I was waiting for you to say an Elk was blocking traffic on Wadsworth! That would have been a day! And rain is good for flowers, just ask all the pumpkins I planted 2 weeks ago.

Kristal,

I have left my phone at home twice and both times I got right back in the car and went home to get it.  I feel like a part of me is missing if I don't have it.  I think that may be pathetic.  I know the people at the funeral where my phone rang thought so.  And come to think of it my pastor didn't appreciate it ringing in church.  I now TURN IT OFF at funerals, in church, and when I'm with clients (sometimes with friends, it depends).

Sorry about the bad day, but it made our misfortunes seem better.

Rod ~ yes what you describe is a pretty bad day.  Lucky we don't do that too often!

Thesa ~ My week did get better, perhaps it was because I already "paid my dues!"

Bob ~ the telephone (or lack thereof) felt like a lost appendage.

Dena ~ you are planting pumpkins?  How cool...I don't have the space.

George ~ Actually the guy won this one. We went u/c two days later!

Fran ~ turning off the phone is a good idea, if you can remember to do so.  My problem is I forget to turn it back on...

Wayne ~ blogging is a release that is for sure. I guess that is why so many people end up putting things into their blogs that are questionable... :)

Jack ~ Glad to be comic relief to you!  :)
