Kimono as art, the landscapes of Itchiku Kubota

Several of us from my office at Cutler Real Estate went downtown to the Canton Museum of Art to see the internationally acclaimed  work of artist Itchiku Kubota, who used silk kimono as his canvas. The exhibition of 40 oversized kimono depicting the changing seasons was incredible.  After seeing the exhibit in Japan, Ambassador W.R. Timken and Jack Timken of the Timken company worked three years to bring the exhibit to Canton.  Can you imagine. Not Cleveland, or New York, but Canton Ohio.  The Kimono was painstakingly made by hand. Similar to tie dye and embroidery, but kicked up to notched unknown. I can't even describe the beauty of it.
