I have nothing against rocking chairs or whittling, but this Porch is all about the food!  

The Porch, located at 2912 N. Henderson Avenue in Dallas is a great indoor/outdoor dining experience in the heart of the Knox/Henderson Dining and Retail distict.

Offering interesting variations on traditional American cuisine, The Porch creates a dining experience that combines a hip, fun and lively atmosphere with delicious foods that make you feel at home.  That, combined with the great outdoor patio facing Henderson Avenue could definitely have been the inspiration for the restaurant’s name.

Offering both lunch and dinner menus, The Porch never seems to disappoint.  The food and service levels seem always consistent.  The staff is friendly and attentive, yet not hovering.  The bar staff mixes great drinks and making the same item taste and present consistently over several visits seems to be tasks that the kitchen staff handles with ease.

Some favorite items that I recommend without hesitation are the Fried Chicken Cobb Salad, the Chopped Chicken Melt Sandwich, the Bowl of Beef and Bean chili is tasty and enough for two meals, the Macaroni and Cheese (w/ ham in it) is incredible, comfortable yet unique, and the short ribs Stroganoff dish is delicious and more boldly flavored than many other similar dishes I have enjoyed.  Top any of these menu items (or another of your choosing… their fish dishes are always interesting and tasty) with one of the Porch’s WONDERFUL blueberry martinis!  For dessert, the comfort treat chocolate pudding will not disappoint… served in a glass sundae/parfait glass… any chocolate lover will be in heaven eating it.

The Porch combines all the elements of a great dining experience at moderate prices.  Entrées are in the teens and twenties, but the portions are very nice and the quality makes it a worthwhile value.  If you are looking for a nice casual and fun experience in the hip Henderson Avenue area, The Porch is where you should find yourself!
