I got hired to do a 1 page Grant Deed notarization with 1 signature.  Sounds easy and it should have been but, it turned into a 45 minute signing.

No problem with the company that hired me but the signing went "south" the minute I got in the door.

The woman said her husband was suppose to be on the Deed but, only her name was listed.  I told her to call the loan officer and find out if she was the only one listed.

She called and we waited until the loan officer returned the call and he said she was the only one to sign.

She is unhappy but signs.

I leave and I am about 2 miles away and the borrower calls me and says the loan officer called again and the husband does have to sign.

I go back and the husband is in the shower and doesn't come out for 20 minutes to sign the Deed!

I did a signing for a Reverse Mortgage the next day and got it signed in less time.

Joan ~ I can totally relate to your story.  I've been there a few times myself.  I guess that's the way it goes in this business.  Some are easy and some are not so easy.  The easy ones however make up for the ones that are more complicated and time consuming.

It's amazing how long some signings take  and how easy some others are?

It probably all even outs in the long run, but we tend to remember the ones that should have signed in 10 minutes and turn into 40 minutes than the other way around.

I remember a few years ago I got a loan signed in about 15  minutes total! This guy had his  pen ready when I walked in the door and was snapping the pen open and closed as I got his info in my journal.

He signed as quickly as I could turn the pages.

I wish I could  clone him!

Cheers,

Joan

But have you had to do a full loan signing standing up and while a surgery is going on in front of you? No kidding, because a title company that shall remain nameless pissed off and scheduled/canceled multiple times on pretty famous heart surgeon in Austin, TX. Guy had to cancel people's heart surgery's people's lives were on the line and damn title company kept dicking him around.

Guess who got the brunt of the yelling? It rhymns with mobile rotaries! ; )

One of my poor Austin loan signing agents had to do the loan signing standing up the entire time while a open heart surgery was going on in front of her. I swear to God she was in that glass booth with the surgeon signor, because the surgeon was training a new heart surgeon. CRAZY!

No one, who is not a notary, realize what an interesting business life we have?

Mobile Notarys' response is one of the best I have heard.  I don't have anything to top it but I do

have a new notary situation/story that happened recently.

I was at the Riverside Ca Jail for a notarization (power of Att) for an inmate and was hired by his mom.  I completed the signing and was on the way back to my office and a defense lawyer called me and wanted me to to met him at the jail in 2 hours for another prisoner.

I got this document notarized for this  prisoner and the guard said to me; "weren't you just here a couple of hours ago?"  I said yes and I am not coming back today! He laughed.

2 visits for a Riverside Ca notary to the jails, in 1 day, is almost unheard of.

Then my son James, notary in Anaheim Ca, called me and said "you won't believe where I did a notarization today?"

He said he was called  to a "Strip Club" to do a notarization for the owner.

I laughed and said well "the Bergstrom family notaries are certainly on the high side of notary work:" 2 jail visits and a strip joint in 1 day! Doesn't get more interesting than this

Cheers
