Tony Tours the Town - Gem Theatre - Kannapolis NC

Last weekend was so beautiful here in Concord, North Carolina that we decided to go to the movies...

go figure!

While there are many different theatres to choose from, we like to go to the Gem in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

    Gem Theatre

One of the reasons I really like this theatre is because of the outside facade. It reminds me of theatres of old, with the lighted marquee and ticket booth out front. They show only 1 movie at a time.

Tickets are $3.00 for everyone always!! That's a deal!

Once inside, you come to the concession stand. All candies are $1.00...yes! $1.00!

The food is also fairly priced. We bought 2 popcorns, 3 sodas and 2 candies for under $11.00. I dare you to spend that little in a big chain theatre.

Another nice aspect of the Gem is you can sit 1st floor level or in the balcony. We always take the balcony.

The upstairs foyer is handsomely decorated with tables, chairs and display cases.

There are restrooms upstairs...a must know fact...lol

We saw, Monsters vs. Aliens.

Excellent movie and not just for kids.  : )

A good time was had by all!

So, if you are in the Concord/Kannapolis NC area, check out the Gem!

Now playing, Hannah Montanna.

Enjoy!!

Hi TO, Monsters vs. Aliens, Sounds like a great one!  Wow, so many great reasons to go the Gem Theatre - $3.00 tickets for starters - that's cheap today.  And cheap candy, too. We would go there too.  Our $1.00 movie theater closed down a couple of years back. We really miss it.

This sounds a lot like our old historic Rialto in Searcy.  They discount the tickets.  Don't know about the food.

I love the historic theatres.  We have a great one called The Alabama Theatre that has been beautifully restored and is hands down the best place to see a movie on a really huge screen.  They have concerts there too.

I would love to have a theater like that near here! The cost and ambience are so attractive!

I honestly shy away from going to the movies.  Between the cost (exorbitant) and the crowd (unruly), I'd rather stay home!

Thanks for sharing

Hey Tony!

Wow that theater is named perfectly, what a gem indeed. Movies for $3 and candy for a $1, that's unheard of around my town. Movies cost $10!! :( That balcony sounds like a an "old"  style movie experience, I would have a blast! Thank you for making me jealous of your movie prices!! :)

That place is beautiful!  And $3 for admission, that's incredible.  It's $7 here for a matinee and that's during the week!
